  1. Hey Hubbers In need of a new rear tyre for the hard tail Niner. Running Sunringle rims and had a Geax Saguaro non tubeless that had been converted and was running well. Thinking about either the same or maybe a Continental X King 2.2 even though the Contis seem hard to find. Anyone got any tips? Mainly doing endurance stuff and living in the Durbanville area. Thanks! Mike
  2. Dudes Semi hijack.... I have my now pregnant wife's entry up for sale. Legit reason for sale and I will take only R200 as a token of good faith ;-) Any takers? Mike
  3. Thanks for the quick replies people. Not sure on the exact model he was talking about but expecting to pay around R480 for the rear hub.
  4. Hey Hubbers Getting a rear wheel built for the 29nr HT next and the LBS is suggesting Novatec rear hub as I am on a tight budget Probably going to be this one http://www.novatec.com.tw/novatec/english/p_show.php?sid=229 The Durability warning is a bit of a concern... Anyone had any long term use on these? Any good, are they durable etc? Thanks! Mike
  5. Totally agree with Majestic. I used to think that an asthma attack after a hard training ride was normal and that's why I had ventolin. Then I saw a chest specialist (pulmonologist) who did all manner of tests and prescribed some chronic meds that manages the condition. Now I just take a puff of ventolin before a training ride or race and haven't had an attack for years.
  6. Thanks for the alternative Rude, more interweb searching on for this afternoon! Dirt-rider - thanks for the tip, not sure how keen mom will be on me attempting a gap jump with or without junior on board!
  7. Thanks Chubba Looked at the weeride but was worried about how it mounts with regards to cables running along the top tube? Is this a potential issue? Good work on getting junior to wear his lid, ours also has an issue with hats etc, haven't tried a lid yet!
  8. Thanks for the Take 2 tip the local importer quoted me R1200. Do you have to pay additional import duties or is the price you see on the take 2 site the total cost? And the final question is would take 2 deal with any warranty claims etc?
  9. Thanks XTC1 Seen all the pics etc on the interwebs but always good to hear from someone who has the item. You can get them from buycycle now as well as directly from the "official importer" www.iBertsouthafrica.co.za Love the kids on bikes thread.
  10. Hey Hubbers Looking to get the youngest hubber in the family into bike riding and have been looking at the Ibert Green Safe-T-Seat. http://www.ibertinc.com/ I like the idea of having the little dude on the front so he can see where we going and get a feel for what bike riding is actually about. Anyone own one of these? Can you suggest an alternative or offer a review of how solid the seat is and how well it works? Not a cheap item so would like to get some feedback prior to paying up. Thanks, Mike
  11. Hey Hubbers I have a Polar s725x that works great on my road bike with its original "S Series" speed sensor. Like this http://www.polar.fi/za/products/accessories/Sseries_speed_sensor I recently recieved a Polar CS Speed sensor from a fellow Hubber and am battling to get it to work on my MTB. http://www.polar.fi/us-en/products/accessories/CS_speed_sensor If I place the wrist unit near to the sensor it seems to pickup and work, move the wrist unit to the bar and nothing! Initially I thought that maybe the front shock was the issue so after trying a bit of this and a bit of that have determined the following: 1. S Series sensor rocks on both road bike and MTB bike 2. CS series sensor only works when watch is very close to it. 2.1 Eliminated faulty CS sensor or low battery by testing my wrist unit on my wifes road bike that sports a Polar CAD200 using a CS sensor. Same result, if the watch is very close to the sensor all good, on the bar, no good! So I am correct in saying Polar 725x and CS sensor are not compatible? OR Is there a trick that I am missing? Thanks in advance people. Mike
  12. Hey Guys Ride went pretty well, took the Malmebury > R45 option. The tail wind did not make an appearance though! Had more of a cross wind all the way along the R45 coming from my right. Covered 120 KM before the support vehicle caught up with me and was pretty glad that they did! As everyone said the route is pretty desolate but I did enjoy the quiet. Enjoy the week and thanks again for the feedback. Mike
  13. Thanks for the feedback guys, I will let you know how it goes. Enjoy the weekend!
  14. Hey Friday Hubbers Anyone got anything to contribute about the option to head up the R27?? Thanks, Mike
  15. Expecting in the region of 150-160km, seriously hoping for that tail wind!
  16. Thanks for the feedback Tarmac, anyone cycled the R27 route?
  17. Hey Hubbers I am looking to cycle on the road bike from Durbanville to Veldrif this weekend. (Family outing planned, and why not mix it up with a LSD ride) The predicted Southerly winds will hopefully make this a little more enjoyable! I am looking for advice on which route option is the best. I have driven the R27 from Melkbos North as far as Langebaan and while it has a good shoulder a lot of cars seem to use it and the road itself is pretty busy. The other option presented by Google Maps is Drubanville > Malmesbury > R45 > Right onto R27 for last section to Veldrif. Anyone know if this road has a shoulder and any idea of the road surface? Any tips or feedback will be appreciated. Thanks! Mike
