  1. Did the green route today, and thought it was really awesome. The infamous hawk swooped down thrice, and hit me on the side of my helmet and ear the third time. Small graze and bleeding of ear.
  2. Try Mike at SBR Sport in Sunninghill.
  3. Hi. I intended to visit Hunter Cycling yesterday, only to find that they are no longer on 4th Avenue, Melville. Does anyone know if they have moved or closed down?

  5. You should be able to find a decent 26 inch hardtail on the hub classifieds for that amount. Will be far better than the bottom of the range new bikes in that price range. Then, once you are convinced mtb'ing is for you, you can upgrade, if you feel the need.
  6. Rather fit a relatively cheap pair of slicks. It will save your off-road tyres and you'll be amazed how much faster you will go.
  7. Long story short - I have a few hours to kill in Witbank on Sunday, but am not familiar with the area. Any suggestions for places/routes to ride, road or mtb?
  8. I will probably be lambasted for being prejudiced but on a daily basis see guys commuting on mid- to high-end bikes which they surely could not afford.
  9. I would say don't limit your choice to Thule only. Try rackandcarry.co.za - they have other brands with similar or better features at lower prices.
  10. I have cycled and driven up Sani twice, but never in snow. The way down on a bike is crazy. I must agree with the comment to not attempt without a 4x4, and any sedan that makes it to the top will not do so without damage to tyres (especially front wheel drive) and burnt clutch.
  11. If you shop around you should be able to get a decent enough carbon frame with Shimano 105 components for R20K. I am told carbon generally gives a more comfortable ride than aluminium but can't vouch for that.
