  1. I'm a novice cyclist and only go out on the road once a week. I am interested in cycling indoor and needed advice on which route to go. I've seen some "things" at cycling shops where you take your back wheel of and use it to train. Another option is a stationery bike like they have at the gym. Please advise which is the best one to go for- at this point I'm not too inclined on having to remove my wheel all the time. My aim is to do the 94.7 and some long rides about once a month. Training more on the road is not an option- work/time commitments) Thanks in advance.
  2. Just got back from my week long holiday in Durban. I COMPLETED THE RACE!! Thanks people. It took me about 4h50 to finish and I was still fine at the end. I had no idea how to pace myself and rode alone most of the way. Once again- many thanks
  3. Really looking forward to it. Thanks again
  4. Thanks for the pointer and encouragement everyone- appreciated. My personal aim is 70km but after reading the replies- think I'm gonna give the full distance a shot.
  5. I am a novice cyclist who cycles alone once a week. My best was 50km in 2h45 riding alone. I'm told riding in a group is easier. I have never ridden in a group race and wanted to give the Tour of Durban a shot- my aim is to do at least 70km. What do I need to know about riding in a group? Any advice on what to take in my water bottles- I currently only drink water. What to have for breakfast/take along the route? Thanks in advance for the help.
  6. Thanks -tha'ts my issue the hassle of getting 4 bikes on. I've heard EZ Rack is pretty easy.
  7. I'm looking for an easy way to transport 4 bikes. Thule G6 is too expensive. I've come across the Buzzrack Quattro and the EZRack (3 bike with adaptor for 4th bike), Has anyone got any advice, pros/cons for me? Thanks in advance
  8. Seems like there is no easy way. Has anyone tried a flatbed trailer with some bike stands welded together? Just a though tthat crossed my mind.
  9. Our family have taken up cycling recently and initially just rode around the neghbourhood. Now we would like to take our bikes out on weekends and away on holiday. What's the EASIEST way to transport 4 bikes? Thanks in advance
  10. Thanks again everyone. Unfotunately something came up and I won't be able to do the race However I relly want to get in gear for the 94.7 this year. I hope to try the Durban race this month if work commitments can be managed.
  11. I've just started cycling a few months ago. I do about 30-40 km once a week (don't laugh ) I've got a borrowed bike and am still riding with my tekkies. The most I've done is 60km in almost 4 hours (again- don't laugh ) I was thinking of entering some events. Is the Emperor's 102km a relatively flat route? What if I'm the last rider and can't make the cutoff? Oh- I also don't know how to change a tire!
  12. thanks dude.. What time do we have to be there?

  21. I used to play alot of squash and do road running. My knees and back are now really bad and I am keen to take to the road on a bicycle. I've tried a road bike and know it's something I will enjoy. Before investing in my own bike I wanted to strengthen my back and knees and would appreciate any advice for a new cyclist like myself. Thans for the help.
