  1. Shame the Missus does not like it! But I really do not care as she likes other bikes I have. The 1995 FZR will get the same lekker respray treatment in time.
  2. I took my little Kawa in to have the fuel hose replaced as I am busy with other things in my bike room. Not sure how it happened, but by the time I left the bike shop I had suffered a little mission creep…………….Booked in for frame powder coating, bodywork, swingarm, engine case and fork respray, replacement of fasteners as required and radiator shroud plating!!! One costly fuel hose!
  3. That just for you DJR!
  4. IMG_0242.MOV Ready for our trip to Milan yesterday, just had her washed at 0400, that is the reason for the puddles of water. Returning today we followed an Emirates A380 below us at FL410. Passed him over Iraq. I videoed the down pointing camera as we passed at FL450 and M.90……was entertaining for a brief moment!
  5. This is magnificent……..I could drool over this in my garage all day long!
  6. Exactly how I feel about my Ducati 1098!
  7. Well, enough of the dreaming. Any recommendations for someone who does good motor cycle paint work, from George to Cape Town preferably.
  8. Or one of these.
  9. Just spent a small fortune on a solar installation at my pad, if not for that, one of these would have joined the 1098 in the bike garage!
  10. Left St Maarten for Miami the other day. Some fellow caught us departing. Very light take off weight. Deck angle is determined by the Flight Director. We certainly do not have the deck angle limits of the Global XRS! Next arriving over Miami and lastly an old workhorse DC3 still hauling freight to earn its keep!
  11. This is a good plan. Years ago when I did my test I did it on my Yammie FZR1000. Was bit of a challenge on the large machine doing the whole stopping, turning thing in the small yard, while having to indicate, look behind etc…..as per the syllabus!
  12. A few more from St Maarten. I was at Maho Beach, Sunset Beach Bar or The Sonesta Hotel.
  13. This is great. I did not know it existed. I shall definitely make trip to CT to see this museum. You rarely see types like the Shackleton and Albatross in the museums overseas.
  14. Arrived in the Dutch Antilles yesterday, Sint Maarten . Piic is from the aerie on approach and then a pic we found on Instagram of us landing! On the runway shot the hotel is to the left and Sunset Beach Bar to the right. Many cool pics and videos on U Choob taken from this bar and Sunset Beach.
  15. Wow, that seems a good price. I do not recall the exact price but am almost sure the Missions were close to 5 for the set on my 1190. I think it will be cost effective for me to ride to CT to get tyres fitted as opposed to ordering from George! Good excuse for a bike ride anyways!
  16. Tyre prices have risen like crazy in the last year or so. I use Michelin Anakee Wilds or Bridgestone AX41 on my Katoom 1190. The rears do not give much more than 3000 kms if I use the throttle enthusiastically! I have changed to Trailmax Missions now as the big Katoom is used mostly on tar and hard packed Karoo dirt roads. My 690 Enduro runs Pirelli MT21 but the rear also only gets 3000 or less. Fairly powerful for a little bike. I may try the Dunlop 606 simply because I have a new spare for my KLR which has not been ridden much since the 690 found its way into the garage.
  17. This does look excellent!
  18. I have not watched it, but it looks to be a good idea. Anything to add visibility!
  19. Anakee Adventures are a solid choice. I took the big Katoom to Josie and back from Hoekwil, perhaps 70% rain each way and during the few days in Josie. Tyres highly recommended. They are very good on hard Karoo dirt roads too. However I do replace them with Anakee Wilds when predominantly on dirt. Your Tiger is a fine machine!
  20. I am so old school……Slingsby Maps do it for me. I love opening them up and planning routes. Fairly pricy but I have them all. The detail and info on the maps is really excellent. I even carry my Swartburg and Klein Karoo map away at work here in Dubai………nice to see what dirt roads I still need to ride when I get home!
  21. I bought a 1/72 model of the Mozzie to build. Airfix kit. I have about 35 1/72 models built up in cabinets in my study, with about another 40 to build. Plus six 1/12 scale bikes……planning for my retirement!!
  22. Left the UK Monday and came to Switzerland for WEF. Was a lekker short flight but cold on departure from Biggin. Had to deice due to a light overnight snow and frosting. Just the wings and tailplane was fine. Used a strange mix 78/22 of Type II fluid.
  23. A few more
  24. I have been in London for a few days, took a trip out to the Royal Airforce Museum at Hendon……
