  1. TL1000R, now that would be a fine addition to my garage!
  2. Crazy this stuff. i have a titanium fan blade from an old JT3 from my DC8 days. Bloody hell, those were strong engines, I have some stories........still the most hours I have flown on any of my several type ratings!
  3. Udvar Hazy in Washington, a highlight of my aviation career! Apart from that last Concorde!Yet another edit, Concorde in New York??
  4. Bloody hell yeah, as a pilot......so am I!
  5. I think it is special to drive off a bunch of Kms and collect a bike........even one in pieces!
  6. I posted this some time back, but I have bought this beast, sight unseen from a dealer in Josie. I will collect in around 23rd of the month. Jeepers, I can barely wait. I am in Dubai right now. Home to Hoekwil on 15th. I am weighing up driving to Josie to collect it on the bike trailer or flying up and riding it back. 1170 kms to home from Fire it Up on William Nicol............I think to ride the beast! It had BT56 tires. I have asked them to fit Pirelli Angel STs........
  7. No idea about my last post. Perhaps too much red grape juice in the hotel lounge in Dubai, but lovely bike EvanB, enjoy it!
  8. That is beautiful, enjoy it!

    MotoGP

I am becomming a big fan of this kid. The talent is remarkable, as is his commitment and determination. That last gasp move yesterday to snatch it on the line was just awesome. Love watching Binder too, backing that KTM like...........well, a KTM really, but perhaps a 690 on the gravel!
  10. F111 has an interesting method of ejection. The entire cockpit comes off as a sealed escape pod. The RAAF had a wonderful airshow sequence where they dumped fuel and ignited it with the afterburners....impressive to see I would imagine!
  11. Man, some interesting stuff there. F111, Bloodhound missile and then it gets hard........Sea Venom, Bronco, Gannet, Mitage FIII in the mix.......eeiisshhhhh!
  12. Kosmonooit, I guess there is a value in fixed base IF flying for peeps that are training toward that end, but simply to be an “enthusiast” and set up a 10 or 12 hour (or longer ) flight and sit through it.........eeeiisshhhhh! The mind Boogles with a capitol B! I do this for a living....buggar it can be boring.........however boring is good ha ha!
  13. At the risk of upsetting some folks, I struggle to grasp how these peeps do this crap for real. Honestly, I do the real actual flights and peeps do it on a sim.........goodness how *** your life must be to do a real time transatlantic flight on a sim.........seriously!! As long as you sit in a dark cupboard to make it more real!! Okay, so I can’t say certain words, bloody hell, what has the world come to, realy K.A.K is not included......eikona wena! Edited for grumpiness due language!
  14. I flew there recently, scary how quiet it is, massive airport and empty!
  15. One of my “go to” place when I get to London. Always a good collection of bikes from close to original to the kind of work shown here. Good coffee too!
  16. Thanks, first ride on it will be about 1130 kms home!
  17. Oh yes I do like Yammies too..........I have this ancient 1995 FZR1000. Next Yammie in my garage will be a T700. I needed a green bike to keep the KLR company!
  18. Somehow this has found its way to my garage...........or rather it will when I collect it later in the month! I am still in the Mid East and plan to ride the beast home to Hoekwil from Josie. I needed a little retail therapy to ease the pain of time spent away from home!! (Or so I told myself) A 2005 ZRX1200R with a full Yoshi system.......mmmmmm
  19. In reality it may be best to build a new airframe. All the running gear and instruments can be transferred across. I expect that there will be a lot of twisting in the various frame tubes after watching the video.
  20. Looks scrap to me, parts bin salvage.......but one cannot underestimate Mike Patey! I hope he rebuilds!
  21. Very sad and some questionable decision making by Mike Patey (at his own admission). I am so glad he and family are okay. I admire his honesty. He even manages his “back to work” fist pump thing he does! Best he gets Scrappy finished quickly now.
  22. It certainly is! However, from my window seat up front it can be a little hectic. It requires some careful briefing from a pilot point of view. Very strict flight paths due to noise sensitivity. We also configure the aeroplane for landing quite late to keep the machine clean and quite as long as possible, non standard stuff. There are also several Missed Approach scenarios that need briefing, depending on the position of Going Around relative to your approach. One has you only climb 500 ft, so briefing TOGA thrust (take off go around) is crazy as the thrust would be excessive! Interesting place. Impressive watching the “heavy iron” come in. The A380 is especially awesome though I believe they fly the full sraight in ILS.
  23. Leaving Nice ealier this morning. Airborne off 04R with an immediete right hand turn back around the airport heading to Geneva. Second pic is approaching Mont Blanc just before the turn to Geneva. We were down at FL240, was a beautiful day to be stooging along that low.
