  1. I am lucky to live in an area where a day ride to Gamkaskloof is possible. 342 kms return and 7,5 hours (with stops). Quite a trek to scoff my chicken sandwhich!,
  2. The bike looks stunning, do you just want a colour change? Is the wrap easy to remove at a later date if one wants to? I thought to do fairings of my FZR, but in standard colours. That would be more exspensive due to the patterns. Price sounds fair to me as a full spray job can run to a lot more than that, especially if one can remove and change the wrap every few years (if you like to change colours!) Be fussy with them though. I saw a Bee Emm 1000R that had been wrapped. It was on the floor of a well known dealer in Gauteng. Bike looked stunning, but on closer inspection I noticed some small bubbles in the wrap. I would not be happy with ghat if paying a lot of hard earned Randellas!
  3. I am still getting used to the tyres. I also err on the side of caution, but I do like to push it a bit too. No tracks in my area, but I have the Outeniqua and Robinsons Pass to play on. Just have to get the timing right regarding traffic. I think the Angel ST will do me fine for my current requirements but having read your opinion I will be be cautious! I was very used to my Bridgestones, will likely return to those. Robinson Pass is bumpy..........helps keep the speed down! Outeniqua Pass has some gorgeous corners, but a couple are always damp to wet......keeps one a little more careful. I stopped to help a youngster two days ago who was perhaps a little too over enthusiastic and binned his small Kawa Ninja, one of them little twins. Dropped on the damp road. He okay.......shaken, but bike a mess.
  4. This is a stunning collection!
  5. Do you use the Mitas in dirt much, if so, do you rate it? I run knobblies as I do ride a lot of dirt, but I do occasionally have longer periods of tar and that just wastes my knobblies. I would use my road bikes, but they are working on the roads on the Hoekwil Pass and the road is frequently muddy and dirty..........and then I choose not to ride the old road bikes! Lucky to have the KLR, I guess. I am thinking to get a more dual oriented tyre but it must still be good on dirt.
  6. I think this Triumph triple is going to be a superb engine! Edited........errr, spacing.
  7. I get around 15000 on BT021’s on my Yammie 1000, about 3500 on Dunlop 606 on the KLR. Just put Pirelli Angel ST on the Yam. They acheived 5500 kms in 24 hours at a 214kph average speed under test conditions on a Hayabusa.............I expect a few more kms!! I have done just 60 kms with them and they do seem a little stickier than the Bridgestones.
  8. Yes, I like this route. I ride my old road bikes here, mostly the 1983 CB750. Missus Spokey enjoys a pillion ride on that machine through to Mossel Bay for fish and salad at the harbour.
  9. On the back tyre theme.....my Dunlop D606 after the tar section of 7 Passes road into George. Note to self.......must try harder, after all, you don’t get a refund for the unused edges!
  10. Nice mix of bikes......I like to see KLR’s out there, riding with the big bikes......... because I have one too!
  11. Aye........chilly!!
  12. After a year off the road, the old FZR is recommissioned! This is last week on Robinsons Pass, north of Mossel Bay.......before my new Pirellis!!
  13. Brand new Pirelli Angel ST, front and rear set. Just did a short jaunt over Outeniqua Pass and back to get a feel for them. Sadly a damp road.....no used pic today ha ha! First Pirellis since I used Phantoms on my old CB400f back in the 80’s.
  14. This thing, aye it hurt me. Took it out the garage which has a bit of a ramp, forgot to put it in gear.......... Yeah........ it rolled off the side stand.(Stupid me) Caught between it and my bakkie, I stopped it hitting the ground, but buggar it stuffed up my hand as the bars swung over and bent my fingers amd wrist back. 3 weeks ago now, still sore........at least the old machine is not damaged! Yes, I squealed until the Missus came to the rescue!
  15. Ahhhhh.....sad, that is my next bike......or the S10. Different I know............and there will be a ‘Busa, sometime!
  16. Shark S700 and Desert Fox. Always with earplugs. I may try something different next time I get a new helmet. Perhaps Bell or AGV.

    MotoGP

One of my favourite races of all time. More action than the other two classes combined. Hoped for a podium for VR, still, massive entertainment value. That young MM is pure class!
  18. Errrrr, sorry ‘bout that, pic was upright last time I checked!
  19. The little KLR enjoyed a jaunt to Rooiberg Pass. Arrived home needing radiator repairs. A common problem on this model when used as they should be. Vibration issue and the design of the mounting points. Small design fault Kawa.......then again, built to a budget hey. Still thoroughly enjoy the machine!
  20. Would love to be there with my old Hondas, but sadly will not make it.

    MotoGP

Nope, big surprise. Have just seen on the MCN FB post. Wonder how well JL amd MM will get on as one would expect JL to be pretty competitive. Bloody hell, that Ducati is fast, 356 km/h at Mugello! ( Dovi’s bike)
  22. And for me the sound, with a good pipe! Though I do like the sound of a big inline four giving it horns!
  23. Buggar......that is very lekka! If I close my eyes and focus, I can almost hear, “Buy Me, Buy Me”, all the way from Dubai!
  24. You can hire them in George. Perhaps I need a couple of days with one before handing over my Randelllas.
  25. Oh yes....Every once in a while my CB750 and I trundle on down to Knysna, The Motorcycle Room on the island is a fine collection. Colin is continually adding to the collection too. Worth a visit if in the area. Nice RZ in there!
