  1. True, my bad. Sauser was 2007 champ and runner up 2008. Both he and Roel Pauliisen ride dual sussers. And Absalon doesn't race marathon distance.
  2. Riding a dual susser and never look back, and by the way Christoph Sauser is the world marathon champion, on a dual susser. Julien Absalon races the shorter distance stuff.
  3. Well, you were blaming the bike for Kevin not doing well this year. Not sure the bike was the problem!
  4. There are often guys commuting in that area. I think some of them are forestry employees. very , very sad.
  5. Oh, yes, and Burry and Christoph did soo badly on dual suspension, as did Bart and Chris, and of course the trek factory team? I'm afraid kevein and David just got beaten by stronger riders this year.
  6. Did you happen to see what the person was wearing or what bike?? I was up there yesterday evening, but came down at 6:30. I know quite a few people that cycle there!
  7. Don't get the point unless you are trying to save weight.
  8. Why would you want to? are you concerned about weight?
  9. I think if you want to get an idea of what the bikes should cost, have a look at the dollar prices on the manufacturers websites.
  10. Guess it all boils down to what you want out of the bike. I used to ride an old Giant NRS1. Great bike, well specced. Did the Epic and Sabie experience on it as well as a couple of other multi day races and many one day races. Recently I got a Trek fuel EX9. Completely changed the way I ride! Also haven't stopped grinning! It is a complete all rounder! and the extra travel means the Tokai single track is an absolute blast!!
  11. When you pull the brake, do both the pads move, ie. the outside and inside pad?
  12. An easy trick is to take a business card, fold it over the rotor. make sure the caliper bolts are loose, push the rotor with the folded business card between the pads. Pull on the brake lever, and while the lever is pulled, tighten the caliper bolts. This should automatically leave a small gap either side between the pad and rotor. If your breaks still rub at various places along the rotor, your rotor is warped and needs to be trued.
  13. An unwanted gift selling for R25 000? Seems very odd indeed!
  14. Did anyone here see that thread about the Trek madone advertised on Gumtree yesterday? Picture on gumtree is identical to the one on this thread.R 25000 for the bike which was an "unwanted gift"? http://capetown.gumtree.co.za/c-Stuff-for-Sale-sports-bicycles-fitness-Trek-6-9-W0QQAdIdZ115647478
  15. When someone says he went to Tokai forest and had a bad time, there has got to be something wrong! really glad you figured out you were in the wrong place and had a great time second time around! I ride there a few times a week and love it! Hell I'm going to head over there right now!
