  1. Was a great day overall with you guys. Agree the food wasn't as good as last year (Breakfast) and Lunch left a bit to be desired, yet it was fresh and filling, and kept us going the rest of the day till we stopped at the Stadium at 5:30PM again. Glad there weren't any major incidents, only two falls that I heard of, otherwise just speedsters in cars, and trucks playing chicken with us. Generally the traffic was manageable, and the drivers followed what we showed them to do. I was the marshal on the Black/Silver Suzuki B-King with Yellow headlight protector, red bag on the back. I lead the VA, and at some point some VB groups, and a few others coming back from Sabie to the Mbombela stadium.
  2. For those who want to know who their marshals were, our Event Captain posted the details for you on the Road Rangers Cycling Board: http://www.forum.roa...n.html#msg13948 *EDIT I see MightyMouse beat me to it...
  3. Oh yes, and those who thought it was a myth, Rennies DO help take cramps away Found two gents on my sweep back from the 50km turn around point, one lying on his back with legs up against the wall, bad leg cramps. His friend said he had taken salt tablets, so I offered him Rennies, to which he was totally stunned, said a colleague at told him to take some with, and said he is definitely going to apologise today to the person for not believing them. But if you guys do get cramps along the route, just wave one of us marshals to stop, we always carry it in our med kits on the bikes. And any other medical assistance you need, also wave us to stop and assist, that is what we are trained to do, and what we are there for on the races. We can always catch up with our groups after helping you first.
  4. Was an awesome race! I got to lead the CSA Junior Men, U 16 men (& and +) and the entire race the group was extremely well behaved. To give some insight into Marshall Lingo, when you see us up ahead, and we wave from back to front, it means we are letting a car in the back know its safe to pass, we might also wave to the left to show the cyclists that a vehicle is going to come past any second, and my group seemed to fully co-operate and the vehicles could come past no problem. Had one VB gent that had went head over handlebars in his group, who then caught up to my bunch, bleeding quite a bit, but this gent had a no fear attitude and didn't want to stop for medical attention. He kept up well and even sprinted out of the group a few times, saw he finished the race, injuries and all. To you sir, I have much respect. The collision was a Bakkie that hit a car, then took out the robot. The fridge lying in the road came from inside his canopy, got ejected from the impact the Bakkie took.... Medics were on scene very fast, and by the time I got back from seeing my group into the finish, the clean up crew had already cleared up the scene. EMPD also did a great job at keeping the race, and this accident scene under control. All in all, I had a great day on the bike with you guys and girls, looking forward to the next one! And if you guys and girls have the time, please come say hi to us marshals, would be great to get to know you better, and we can all have a chat about the day's race, either before, or after.
  5. Good luck for the MTN PANORAMA TOUR 2014 - 26 to 29 APRIL 2014, Road Rangers will be your Safety Marshals there too
  6. Will be seeing you guys and girls there on Sunday Road Rangers will be keeping you safe in the race
  7. Unfortunately as with all forums, new accounts need to be screened carefully, especially on open board forums where anyone can register (when it was closed board it was much more manageable, if you didn't know the person, account denied) Please bear with us as we make the transition
  8. Its a pleasure finally getting to know some of the cyclists we marshal with. To every Road Ranger its a privilege and commitment to be involved in keeping every cyclist save on the roads, whether it be on a Training Ride, or a Timed Event, Cyclist Safety is always our number one concern.
  9. I Marshalled the AL group, Silver Motorcycle, Yellow headlight Protector
