Event Name: Fish River Sun MTB Challenge When: 14 June 2014 - 15 June 2014 Where: Fish River, Eastern Cape Category: MTB Stage 1 is situated in the Kap River Nature Reserve, on the Western banks of the Fish River. Riders will be riding amongst an abundance of wildlife as they take on this 50km route. Stage 2 takes place on the Eastern side of the Fish River. It is a 60km stage, taking in some scenic gravel roads, jeeptrack and singletrack cattle paths and finishing with a unique loop through the Fish River Sun golf course, crossing the feature bridge over the Old Womans River and finishing on the lawn in front of the clubhouse. Late entries & registration will take place at Coimbra Cycle Shop, cnr Villiers Rd and 6th Ave Walmer on Thursday 8 May from 4-6pm and on the morning of the race at Nanaga Farm Stall from 6am. Late entries will be taken on the day, but you are strongly encouraged to register online to assist with minimising administration on the day. Event Name: MySpar MTB Classic When: 4 May 2014 Where: Jeffreys Bay, Eastern Cape Category: MTB Enter online at www.entrytime.com. Closing date 30 April. Late entries accepted on the day. ROUTE DESCRIPTION: The race is being held at Zuurbron Farm on route to Hankey traveling from Humansdorp. Zuurbron is more famously known among mountain bikers as the last checkpoint of the Trans Baviaans 230km MTB race. The route of the My Spar MTB Classic traverses the Zuurbron farm mostly by means of jeep tracks and farm roads. Don't be fooled by the route profile of this race, it's not as easy as it looks on paper. Even fit riders will have to conserve energy where possible in order to finish strong. The roads are taxing on your legs - even when you're not climbing (which there are enough of as well on this route). Event Name: Mpekweni MTB Classic When: 26 April 2014 - 27 April 2014 Where: Mpekweni, Eastern Cape Category: MTB The Mpekweni MTB classic is a two-day stage race in the heart of the sunshine coast that will take place during the weekend of the 26th April 2014. The route will take riders through the old Ciskei farms and offers some of the most pristine single tracks, breathtaking views, river crossings and some of the best jeep tracks in the Eastern Cape. This is an ideal MTB stage race as it caters for the whole family; while Mom or Dad are enjoying the adventure-filled route, the rest of the family can enjoy the entertainment and facilities on offer at the Mpekweni Beach Resort.
