  1. When did they notify everyone last year on the group placings?
  2. afternoon sun seems to go down earlier now.
  3. Has anyone heard of any routes changes this year?
  4. Steven last year was my first K2C and my first race ever. started in the G group as i hadn't done any seeding events. I managed to just finish in 4:55. finished in the top 10 of my group. Train on long climbs, my thoughts on doing hill repeats on shorter climbs, is the rest period my rob you of your training. when you are having to ride in the dust, heat, and at the pace of slower guys infront of you, looking for gaps to pass you tend to use alot more energy, IMHO. do a few 100km rides leading up, and do some rides that exceed the elevation gain and you will have no problem on the day.
  5. Also my first K2C and my first event ever. We started in group G and got to the meeting point early to get a spot close to the front, by the time we had started moving towards the starting gate and the count down began we were in the middle of the pack, so going up the first hill we walked most of it because it was literally stop start. but after that overtaking on must of the up hills gave me a 4:58, I was hoping for a 5:00 to 5:30. So beating my prediction was great. so next year with a bit more training and a beter start point will aim for a 4:30. Thanks to all involved for making it a pretty awesome day. And a thought for next year, maybe include not only the free meal the night before but also a boerie roll and a ice cold Beer at the end!
  6. Duh, never mind 6.19kg is light
  7. That is a stunning bike. Weight?
  8. Brandon this is a sick looking bike, what sort of equipment have you got on the bike? and where are you going to still save weight?
  9. Hi George I had crossmarks front and rear and upgraded to racing ralphs front and rear, i noticed a little more noise on tar but not much, they roll easier at high speed. I sent my rear wheel in for repairs and they gave me a loan rear wheel with a Rocket Ron tyre. i found my rear wheel sliding on roots and in the mud. Not happy with the Rocket Ron tyre at all. Go for Racing Ralphs all the way.
  10. some guys are putting in some serious climbing in preparation for the K2C
  11. If you havent gone tubless go NOW! To get a decent fork thats worth the upgrade can be pricey. I had a set of Maxxis Crossmarks with tubes on Stans Crest Rims 29er, they put a set of tubeless Racing Ralphs on. I saved 500 grams on the weight of my bike plus they have less rolling resistance. Tyre selection is really important, and I can attest to that using strava, Im beating all my personal bests. You probably have the standard Rapid Robs on your Giant XC 2 rims, the rapid robs are 680grams plus the weight of the tube, go for Racing ralphs át 485grams and look at a new wheel set. Then look at improving your contact points with the bike, pedals, seat, and handle bars, they can be cheap upgrades from as little as R100, but will only improve your experience!
  12. helps if you attach the picture
  13. Mine has taken me to the top of George Peak, me and two buddies were the first people ever, and only 10 hours! Coming down has the most insane thing i have ever done, imagine a 2 and a half hour downhill ride, I could not bend or twist my wrists for 2 days and I will never ever do it again!
  14. Dude, this is a hot looking bike!
