  1. Back on my bike! Thank you all for the assistance, and big thank you to Nick G for the spare maxle!
  2. Just spotted a high-end Felt road bike which may have been stolen. If someone or someone you know has had a Felt bike stolen in Stellenbosch and surrounds recently and can describe the bike to me I will provide you with more information.
  3. Very happy its rockshox then!! Ya also thought to take the lever assembly and place it in my axle
  4. That would be awesome! Ok, I see what you mean, the lip of the axle. Will pm you. Thanks!
  5. Thanks for all the replies! Are all thru axles priced around R500? Or will I be able to find an alternative one to fit the fork but cheaper? Dont know to much about them...
  6. That would be awesome! Will let you know if I dont come right
  7. You're right, think that might have been the original problem.. but now I have lost the lever. Should have just checked before
  8. Hey guys After my ride two days ago I noticed the quick release on my front wheel's thru axle was loose. The axle was still sitting tight in the fork. (Rockshox SID fork, 15mm thru axle). Went for another ride yesterday and afterwards noticed I had lost the cam lever completely. (My own fault for not having dealt with the problem before- I admit) Maybe someone can explain how the quick release mechanism within the axle became loose? Then to my actual qustion, any one know where I can source a replacement part or another axle that can be used instead? As RockShox have none of these in stock and will have to wait a month Thanks!
  9. Just want to add my 2c here.. I am on the side of not putting up a fight for your possessions.. And will agree with those of you that said awareness and avoiding being out on your own or avoiding dodgy areas are the main defense strategies. However, there are some situations in which you possessions are not the main concern and running away is impossible. This is a situation that I faced 2 years ago, and at that point I would have been very grateful for a couple of well-trained moves in my arsenal. Learning self-defense is not solely for learning how to get the upper hand or beat the hell out of your attacker (because lets face it, attacks don't take place under favourable conditions- weapons, outnumbered etc). The purpose of self defense is also to teach one how to react to the situation you face. ie: can I get away? how would I do that? What can I do to fight back against someone if I don't manage to get away? "Fortunately" in most of the bike-jacking incidents the guys are mainly focused on getting out of there with your bike, so once handing over possessions (get good insurance!!) you might even get away unscathed. But especially for the other girls out there, self defense doesn't have to be your first move, but if you are placed in a situation where you have to fight, knowing a few tricks will go a long way! Oh, and I agree that a couple of classes is not going to cut it. First step of self defense: BE AWARE.. that's what saved me! And don't make yourself an easy target by being alone (don't want to include being in dodgy area here, as these things can happen anywhere)
  10. sorry.. should read "either drive through from knysna in the morning OR make use of the tents"
  11. Hey guys! This year will be my first k2c- very excited! However, I didn't plan in time where accommodation is concerned and now I need to weigh up my options. Either drive from Knysna in the morning to make use of the tents at the school in Uniondale. I have read a couple of stories of people having bad nights- cold, noisy etc in the tents. Could anyone give me feedback on their experience? Also, if someone has stayed in the stables I'm looking for info on how it compares. (Price wise also- as the tents are pretty steep at 250pp) Thanks in advance!
