So this is interesting....they refined/redesigned the Merida 120 I very much liked the previous design with the rear shock upright like the Giant Trance and Scott Spark....funny how one's perception is. It looked a lot more like a fun/trail bike. Hi Ruben, Yes, I saw that one at Bike Addict, and was almost on the way to buy it, but then saw a new/unused 12sp Deore (M6100) on the hub selling for less, and figured either way I have to buy a new derailleur and chain for any new wide range cassette; so decided the extra $ for microspline free body and 12sp shifter is worth the upgrade (and I get a 10 instead of a 11 at the smallest cog). Will advertise the 11 speed setup (shifter, chain, cassette, derailleur and chainring and HG body) on here when the 12 is done and fitted.

HI Dave, Thank you for the reply / advice. Was not aware that NX cassette runs on HG hub. Now I do! 🙂 My current 1x11 is Shimano (XT/SLX) with ratio of 11/46T. I already purchased a brand new Deore 12 speed cassette (10-51T) from a fellow hubber, and am working on the rest of the parts as I go along.

Thanks for advice. I read that post that was on here sometime ago relating to compatibility of Stans/Lyne hubs and free bodies. So think you are right. that means besides a Lyn hub owner, there is one more possible taker for whom the Lyne HG hub might work, although still only small target market. Convinced the bearing will still be good, has not seen alot of mileage, and nothing extreme at that....so when removed will clean and take good photos and see what bites. 😉

Hi all, I currently have a 1x11 and decided to go 1x12. Current rear hub is Lyne JB03 (like this) with Shimano HG free body. Lyne sells a microspline freebody (R1250) which will make the conversion possible, so all good. But my question is: is the Shimano HG Free body somethin that will sell 2nd hand? As far as I know, Lyne hubs/free bodies are only compatible with Lyne hubs, correct? So, is the assumption correct to say that only someone with Lyne hub would be a potential buyer for this Free body?

Great, sounds good. I just talked to someone at Ryder/Omnico, and he confirmed that spares/repairs are 100% available in the event that something happens. Waiting to hear who stocks these in my area.

Jip, I also like to BOA version - nice and clean look!. Wondeing how durable the system is? thoughts? I am also going to ask Ryder if they stock replacement cables/parts like you get with BOA system on "other" brands.

Thanks for the advice and referral to Ride Concepts. Good looking shoes yes, however in clips only khaki which will get dirty very quick I think. Prefer black. I have many times considered going flat; seeing as I am not a racer, more of weekend warrior doing mixed trails in/around Stellies/Somerset West primarily. If I get these Ryders, I can try them flat too, seeing as they have removable rubber section to cover up the cleats.

thx, I agree, a lot of their products are good and solid, and at fraction of the expensive brands. Mate of mine has that saddle, and also very happy with it. I will contact Ryder to find out who in Somerset West stocks these, so that I can try them on. If I buy, I will be sure to report back here.

Good day, how much of the route is only available during this event? Or does a large part of it consist of permanent trails open to ride in the area throughout the year (eg. with day permits / Winelands permit)?

Hi all. Time to sell my 2013 Spez Rockhopper and would welcome some opinions on value/asking price? Frame size: XXL Rockshox Reba 100mm (airfork) 1x10 Drivetrain: -Deore derailleur and shifter -Sunrace 11-46T cassette -Deore brakes with 180 mm rotors -XT crank with spd m520 pedals - Snaggletooth 34T round chainring American classic AM28 wheels Forekaster 29x2.35 (back and front) Lyne wide bars and Fabric lock on grips Lyne contour dropper XL (internally routed through mod done by Hellsend shop in Stellenbosch). Climbs like goat and flies through single track. My thoughts are to list at R13,000. Why? Because at R11k you may get newer frame bike but with lesser specs (eg. 3x9 gearing, entry brakes and coil fork and no dropper). Comments/Opinions?

Wow, thanks for the response/offer guys. Managed to find an old model (but unused) Thule 589 for a bargain, and just couldn't resist. Looks to be the old granddaddy of the Outride model. Some parts & bolts still in plastic!! The Scott MTB on the box gives it's age away a bit!! ????
