  1. Muddee is that a 26' or wagon wheel 29'?? And chains: 8,9 speed? do power links work OK or rather not risk it? Just makes sense when trying to find that perfect gear for that magic carpet ride! Thanks again guys!
  2. Thanks for the reply's. I definately plan to do 24hr races on it and the odd marathon. looks like the 34 was a waste of cash then ?!? Do you guys have any cool links to SS pages and crazy racers like dj birch etc. Im an addict what can i say. It may only have one gear but three speeds, sitting standing and walking!
  3. I am looking to plunge into the single speed arena on either my 26' or 29'. what is a good starting point for either / both tire sizes? or any links to gear charts etc. i have single speed chainrings in 32 and 34. What chain would you guys recommend, or will any chain work fine? Any ideas? Thanks
  4. good point about capestorm, my bad. Just think it a little unfair if i was to be a small LBS owner selling same stuff. off to go ride.............
  5. Im sure all shops have resultant overheads of retailing to carry and are entitled to profit but it seems unfair that an importer/shop owner be allowed to make profit on the same item when not being sold in his shop but being sold at the same price elsewhere. Kind of like Pick and Pay selling their PNP in-house products to checkers (making a profit) and expecting checkers to sell it at the same RRP price.
  6. From parkview the only morning options for the working guy is the spruit "highway" and variants without getting in a gas guzzling car before work. The bike park off main is also open early if you heading in that direction and are ok to drop R50 per ride. There is also a really cool crew in Parkhurst area called swampdogs, their membership is full but you will definately see them around, for info just ask Mike at mikes bikes about joining their list for next year as membership is capped. They do ride mornings and weekends, also have a cool bike farm out of town!
  7. KDEE makes a good point, 'its your choice' and after all RRP is Recommended not dictated and should have no + and - tolerance. I also feel it is pretty uncompetitive behavior if a shop owner is a share holder in an import and distribute company in the same industry. This means buy my product from me in my shop and i get 2 times profit, once at wholesale, once at retail. Or by it from another shop and i still make profit at wholesale, if i was a shop owner that would really p me off as "RRP" would no-doubt be the same.
  8. Back a bit to brands but what about Ellsworth and anything else from greenwall, i heard FP was part owner/shareholder of them with other FP guys?!?!
  9. Where are you based, joburg mtb'ers are spread all over the place, especially in the mornings.
  10. A bit crude but whenever passing some roadkill "HUIS TOE" was aimed at the poor thing by at least one member of the crew, alerting us too the hazard as an added bonus.
  11. My all time favorite is by Clint from finish line cycles, early on an Epic stage when asked what the order of the day was: "attack early, repent at leisure"
