  1. A friend of mine was hijacked today at around 16:45 in the veld between Nelmapuis drive and Pierre van Ryneveld, accross Cornwall Hill. He was cycling on the road that is under construction. 5 guys attacked him, he is fine I am waiting for more details
  2. I also think it was a rip off. We competed in a mixed team and finished 12 laps - the mens team which came third finished only 11 laps but they qualified to recieve a prize and we didn't because there was apparently not enough teams in our category. How is this our problem if there are not enough entries? I think we did well and they did not even bother to mention us - anyway we left there discouraged and not "lus" to do the event again.
  3. Hi I don't have too much detail, but there was another Hi-Jacking in the Irene Area on Saterday (Towards Oliefantsfontein)4 guys with knives and an Ax overpowered 3 Guys and took their bikes. Coin Security Guys caught up with the Hi-jackers in an unmarked vehicle but the hi-jackers ran into the veld when they realised that they are being followed. One of the victims is a Preacher at the Pierre van Ryneveld Community Church.
  4. The longest distance I had ever pushed my bike
  5. Just a question? How many people had stomach issues after the race, My team, plus some others had running stomachs after the race ( I suspect the soup at Checkpoint 3) PS: I also think its tougher that the original route!
  6. We are riding for more than 17 years now and Sunday was the first time a slower rider was offended by the generally accepted "track please" at Groenkloof. We saw a group which got stuck at the rocky section on the first part of the track where most people usually dismount. We said "track please" from a distance to give them enough time to get out of the way in order for us to cross the obstacle without hurting anyone. So this group started calling us names and shouted "lets see how you see your ass" and this track is for social riding not for assholes like you. Much to their disgrace we crossed the obstacle with great "panashe" - by the way I'm a girl. In the many years I cycled this was the first incident with a funrider - or lets rather say "slower rider". I will not get upset about this but next time I see him and his buddies on the track I will defenitely NOT say Track please......
  7. Hi all - I want to share my experience with the cycling community after I was bikejacked at Irene. A Week before the Sani2C my friends and I were bikejacked by 5 thugs armed with pangas and knifes. Apart from the trauma experienced by myself due to being seperated from the group and dragged into the veld, I also suffered a huge financial loss. That night I could not get my head around how I will still be able to do the race. I decided to "go big or go home". I got up at 12 o'clock that night and emailed Glen Haw(Organizer of Sani2C). Thought it might be the best source to contact at the time. I really did not expect anything. That Monday when business hours started - the first call I got was from Willie of KTM (after being contacted by Glen Haw) and he informed me that there is a demo bike waiting for me at Centurion Cyclelab. I could not believe it! Arriving at Cyclelab they treated me with the utmost professionalism. The setup of the bike was done - which took more than two and a half hours by the way (FREE OF CHARGE). To make a long story short - I did the Sani2c on a KTM Myroon. The bike handled BEAUTIFULLY! I did the climbing and single track with the greatest ease. These actions from people of the cycling community restored my trust in our country and its people. I'm sure you're wondering how this story ended. Yes, I am a proud owner of the KTM which was offered to me at a much reduced price! Thank you Glen Haw, Willie (KTM), David Labuschagne and crew at Cyclelab!
  8. Hi Herman My wife (Etresia) that was involved gave me your number last night. I'll give you a call and sent you some pictures of what to be on the look-out for. I am keen to do what ever I can to put them behind bars
  9. Darryl, Thank you for the offer; I must say I am again truly and pleasantly surprised and humbled by everybody that offered encouragement and support. I am truly proud to be part of the Cycling community. Etresia sent an email to Farmer Glen on Sunday and he arranged a bike for her today. I don't know how to thank all that offered their help.
  10. People Please be on the look-out for an Airborne (Similiar to picture). Small frame with Selle Ladies seat, XT Group set. There are probably less than 5 in the Country. It has SUN Rims with DT Swiss hubs, Rock Shox SID. ET
  11. Tx, everybody OK, this is sickening! to say the least! This must have happened after the Cyclelab group passed. What makes me the Moer in is that these Ninjas didn't run away and just waited for a smaller group - Just shows how they know we are easy targets! Just one of them needs to be caught - they will rat out their mates - I am going to patrol this area randomly on my Off-road bike
  12. Thanks everybody OK, yhea what can I say about the COPS :-(. This really f%$^ up our plans for SANI2C
  13. My wife and her 2 training partners were jacked by these 5 hiding in the bushes (See my reply above), Please next time phone the Police
  14. Yip, there was a Hi-Jacking in the main road past the cement factory. Must have happened after the cyclelab group went past (Please next time phone the Police!!!!). The Ninja's took 2 brand new 29er Elsworth's and my wife's Airborne Lancaster (She now don't have a bike for the Sani2C!!)
  15. Hi There was again a Bikejacking in Irene, This was in the main dirt road from Pinedene past the cement factory. The bastards took 2 brand new 29'er Elsworth's (Blue and Grey) and a Titanium Airborne Lancaster. Please be on the Look-out for these.
