  1. So, DH session at Spanish Farm on the 31st of December 2009 while on holiday in the Cape went a little pear shaped. OTB over the steep log drop near the bottom, and my left clavicle gets a proper seeing to... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Seanisking/Random/collar1.jpg Doctor tells me to stop whining and just wear my sling for the next 8 weeks, oh and go see another surgeon in a week once I get back home to Joburg. Thursday the 7th of Jan I go see a surgeon, and the next morning, 6am, I'm at the reception of the Sandton Medi-Clinic, about to have an ORIF op on my clavicle... 4 days after surgery... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Seanisking/Random/18666_282471850785_530965785_513523.jpg These are from my follow up appointment 2 weeks after surgery (Friday 22nd Jan) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Seanisking/Random/xray2b.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Seanisking/Random/xray1b.jpg Best decision I could have made. 10 days after op I was driving, 17 days after I'm back in the gym (only training legs and cardio though )

  11. So last week Thursday (New Year's Eve) I rode Spanish Farm... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Seanisking/Random/th_collar2.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v284/Seanisking/Random/th_collar1.jpg Got back home to JHB yesterday, so I'm going to see the surgeon tomorrow about getting it plated
  12. I didn't mean a shuttling service, I want to know if we can get our own vehicles in there, or if there are any roads that lead to the top in that area? What about Spanish Farm? I hear there is a dirt road tot he top but there is a locked gate at the bottom. Any idea who to speak to about that gate?
  13. G-spot was alot of fun, been there twice now in 2 days, and plan to go back on Saturday. Top section was alot of fun, but lower down it gets a bit flat and slow for a proper DH bike, might be better on a 6 inch travel bike. Top left line is rad though What's the deal with shuttling at Tokia, can it be done? I'm not too keen on pushing. Is there any vehicle access? Same at Spanish Farm, can you get a bakkie in there?
  14. Just got back from riding Eden, what a dissapointment. Last time I roder there was 8 years ago. After a bit of searching I found the old race track, but it was overgrown and there were trees pulled down onver the track all over the place. My buddy and I found some other trails and sessioned them for a while, but the trails lacked flow and weren't overly steep or fast. I'd go as far as saying our local DH spot in joburg is faster and steeper. Was a real pity as I used to love Eden Going to ride G-spot later though once it cools down Hitting Spanish Farm later in the week...
  15. my 750 is a tight squeeze, have to turn the bars sideways a bit

    My Howler

Saw your bike hanging up in the wash bay over the weekend, nice!
  17. 750mm or more for DH or go home
  18. use a screw driver and a hammer, hit it from the bottom from a couple of spot/angles to get it moving up the steerer.
  19. Woah welcome to 1998 Yeah that guide is pretty old so I'm guessing it mounts via a plate behind the BB cup. No ISCG there.
  20. Rapid Rise refers to "wrong way around" shifting, in that you go to higher gears (smaller cog) with the thumb, and lower gears (bigger cog) with your index finger. Shadow refers to the derailleur. It's Shimano's new design that tucks the derailleur up closer to the frame and cassette, moving it out of harms way. It makes it safer as you have less chance of knocking it into things while riding. First day on the hill yesterday with the new Saint parts. Took a bit of getting used to the new shifter as my old shifter was Rapid Rise, but wow what a difference! Shifts were amazing and chain didn't move from the cogs or jump at all. brakes are bedding in nicely and feel good, nice modulation and not "grabby". As for the 2006 Boxxer Race, I say go for it! Boxxers are pretty simple forks, and are super easy to service. All it really takes is some new seals and fresh oil every now and then, so as long as you look after these components you shouldn't have any issues even with a 2006 model. My fork was leaking abit of oil from the damping side. Changed the seals and added fresh oil and haven't had a problem since. Then are bullet proof, as long as you take care of them. Having said that, the 2010 Team is looking more and more tempting everyday... Eedubz2009-12-21 02:17:40
  21. It's a 2006 Race. Yip rebound and compression damping.
  22. Click the thumbnails for the fullsize pic Raleigh RDH 9.0's and 7.0's are in fact Azonic Eliminators, brought in by Raleigh and branded as their own. I really don't like the Raleigh paint and stickers, so took it back to it's roots. The Saint parts are awesome. Haven't had a proper ride with them yet, but friends that run the same rear mech and shifter all rave about it. The brakes are still bedding in but feel good, lots of power! The bars are 750mm wide, 15mm rise, fitted them about 2 months ago. Direct mount stem and wide bars are a must have in my opinion, makes such a huge difference! Can't wait to ride the Helderberg (Spanish Farm) track in 2 weeks time, I'm staying 2km away
