The guy who got away had a Brothers Sport kit as far as I remember. Nobody else got away.

I was in front of D-E bunch the whole race. There WAS one guy that got away up 1st ou kaps who I THINK started in our group. Otherwise everyone else who was ahead of the main bunch who crossed the line in 2h38.00 jumped the start intentionally or unintentionally.

Can someone say stop at 130km!

Thanks Fandacious. I weigh 63kgs on a fat day and am +- 6ft so my body really doesnt have much reserves at it's disposal hence me paying particular attention to this topic.

Interested to learn what other participants will eat and drink DURING the event. In 2008 I bailed at 160km stop because I didn't eat enough. 2009 I did finish but was severely hydrated (nausea, shortness of breath etc.) Probably should have hooked myself onto a drip at the finish but was so relieved to have finished and had a 2 hour drive back to CT! The heat seems to drastically affect my performance. Rode 170km on Saturday in the cooler weather and was 100%. Not so much for the One Tonner which took place in hot conditions. That nauseas feeling was back! Seems one has to make allowance for what might be palatable in extreme heat that can be expected in and around Swellendam. Sugary gels and bars will not be sufficient and probably unpalatable after 6 hours. My thinking is to use the sweeter stuff on the bike and to eat something more normal at the stops. What say you guys.

always ridden eastons. currently have the ea90slx. great wheel. not sure if the other wheels have the same tool-free pre load adjustment but its very clever. i hear the backups great but never needed it. know lots of people with the mavics that break spokes. fulcrums heavy.
