  1. Cheers for all the replies everyone! That was really helpful
  2. I was wondering, what gearing do you guys use for singlespeed riding in real mountains? (and on which wheelsize is that?) It seems so hard. Coming from the flat country of The Netherlands single speed is nothing special. Even the XC tracks don't have more than 40m difference in height. So you can just speed up during the downhills so you'll make it easily up the uphills, even without gears. But what if the uphills are 10 minutes long? Do you walk or just have a very small gearing on your ss bike?
  3. As far as I remember these were the only 2 fully black bikes I have owned: Black Market Contraband (24"): http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb11376120/p4pb11376120.jpg Black Market Malice (26"): http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb7612647/p4pb7612647.jpg
  4. Here's some of the stuff I had: Peugeot. Can't remember the model name and the year. It was about 20-25 years old. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb9206343/p4pb9206343.jpg It was a lot of fun converting that bike from an old piece of garbage to what you see on the picture, but after riding it for a bit more than half a year, I decided to sell it because I really wanted to start another project. Really enjoyed the progress of having an old bike in terrible shape and bringing it back to life. After I sold that one I bought this a Gazelle Champion Mondiale '79. It was in a bit better shape, except for the bent forks / frame bent like a camel's back, that I didn't notice when I bought it. Still it was a nice deal for €30 / 400ZAR. Especially since I ended up selling the Shimano 600 groupset for more than that. Another fun project that in the end didn't cost me anything. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10020307/p4pb10020307.jpg This was my bike until I moved to Amsterdam. With all the tram rails in my street and neighbourhood, those skinny tyres didn't seem like the best choice for a commuter. That's when I sold that bike and replaced it with the 1991 Kona Cinder Cone frameset, that I have custom built myself: http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10789208/p4pb10789208.jpg I still ride this bike
  5. This is how I ride my '91 Kona Cinder Cone as a commuter back in The Netherlands: http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb10789208/p4pb10789208.jpg And this was my old 24" freestyle mtb I used to do tricks on: http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb11376120/p4pb11376120.jpg Might aswell share a little action video of me riding this bike when it was green: http://www.pinkbike.com/video/225160/
