  1. Sweet Holy!! See you there!!
  2. Some of us (errrr me) will be leaving Friday round 14h00 and I have arranged a night ride on the Friday evening. Some of the other chaps will be rolling in on Friday evening after graft and the rest will roll in on Saturday morning. Then the real fun starts! Ride till our legs fall off, put them back and go catch a lift to the top of the downhill.....fall of the side of the mountain. Fix everything with beer, fire and laughter. Repeat untill bored! PM me for car pool arrangements as we have 2 cars leaving from JHB and 3 from PTA with some space in them. Sharing fuel bill=more beer I have confirmed with Mankele and they say they have PLENTY space left!
  3. For sure. We do these types of weekends every second month or so. Last time was Giba Gorge with a bit of the World 4X and Downhill thrown in. Mankele is much closer than Giba (from JHB)so depending on the facilities, trails, vibe, etc we will most definately have another one soon!!
  4. Howzit! If you are reading this it means you are a fan and I would like to envite you to Mankele on the weekend of 12/13/14 June. A couple of us are camping there for the weekend and it would be nice to have some more people in the campsite than when we wnt to Giba Gorge. Anyone keen?
  5. AMSTEL!!!!
  6. My fastest time for that section is 1:39 Jesus Sean....what do you eat for breakfast.....flatbar on toast????
  7. HEHE.....far from it Thug...I'm the polite one on the 6" dual susp bike with baggies on.....not one of those spandex clad serious types who swear and bump into other people.....its fun pushing yourself though, I just wanted to get an idea of what would be considdered fast. That dude that says he did it in 1h39min might be a tad more serious than me though
  8. We do the run from the top corner of the Botanical gardens (at the cemetry) down to N1 (including that peski little thing called Hurlingam Hill BLECH!!) and then all the way back in 1h53min last Sunday. We hope to get it into the low 1h40mins soon as its not so muddy this time of year...
  9. I have been supporting (or rather they have been supporting me!!) the same LBS since 1988 and its just been better everytime I go there. I returned to MTB after a couple of years layoff and found that the shop is still getting better. Thanx Linden Cycle....you ROCK!!
  10. We have been giving it horns down there a couple of times and I was just wondering what a good time would be for the 40km trail......
  11. Anybody here ride the Spruit route (from Beyers Naude to N1) often?
  12. I agree.........it's a disgrace that something like that can make it onto radio.....it pathetic!!
  13. Thanx for the tip. Any trails that we should pay specific attention to as we will only have 2 days there......
  14. Thanx for the info. We are heading over there on the 12/14th June.
  15. I am planning a weekend trip to Mankele. How does it compare to Giba Gorge? What are the camping facilities like? How far is it to the nearest shop for supplies? etc. All information would be appreciated.
  16. I agree. We camped there for three (3) days and payed R210 per person (for all three days!!!!) and we got free entrance to the park every day. That is good value in my book!! Dit you guys try the food @ their "Cafe"? It's FANTASTIC!!!!
  17. ...heh....?? There are always ppl on that section (on bikes) some coming up and some coming down (I did think that was a bit stupid and only once saw ppl riding down.) There is no sign up that says its a walking path, or a cycling path for that matter. I just assumed it was part of the course (if you are angry at yourself!). I think they call it "Heartbreak Hill". Why would it be illegal? Mother Goose2009-04-16 08:40:09

  20. Screw them. I will be sure to check out the trails on Saturday as we dont have anything planned just yet. Directions plz!!
