WPCycling is proud to have hosted the Western Cape Road & Time Trial Championships, a decision driven by a firm belief that our cyclists deserve a championship test—right here at home. Staging a road championship in Cape Town, a highly built-up metro, is no small feat. Finding suitable racing routes requires months of planning, negotiation and compromise. WP Cycling, together with Myriad Events and Western Cape Cycling Association quite literally pulled out all the stops. From engaging with authorities and arranging comprehensive traffic control and ambulance services, to securing an excellent start-and-finish venue at Tela Fabrics, Bon Mella Estate, Durbanville, every detail was carefully considered. Even road surface repairs were undertaken—only for potholes to reappear just days before the event, a reminder of the constant challenges of urban racing. Despite this, the championships delivered racing worthy of the title. Conditions were almost ideal and the course was punchy, selective and honest. Elite, U23 and Junior (U19) riders took on a demanding 138 km race, while the remaining categories faced an equally tough but shorter 87 km route. The Youth & Para Cycling Categories were tested on some 'monster rollers'. It was racing that rewarded preparation, resilience and grit—exactly what championship racing should be. WP Cycling thanks all partners, officials, volunteers, and riders for making this event possible and proving once again that, even in a challenging environment, top-class championship racing can and does happen in the Western Cape. Congratulations to our Elite Men's & Women's Champions - Tyler Lange and Tiffany Keep respectively.

the official word from CSA , its part of the membership portal and it cannot be changed. so if you have purchased a day license and you also have a csa / racing license , you will be refunded on request. non csa members may purchase csa membership without belonging to an affiliated club. just choose the virtual regional club ie Cape Metro / Cape Winelands / Eden etc etc depending on where your residential address is. the csa membership will allow you to enter any csa sanctioned event apart from SA's

Our 2nd training weekend rides are coming up We’re now moving our training onto Contermanskloof Road – perfect prep to replicate the terrain you’ll face in the upcoming fun rides (just a month away!). Next training weekend: Saturday & Sunday – from City Cycling Clubhouse, Edgemead Sports Complex to leave at 7am. We have tubes, CO2 cartridges,energy bars and drinks available in our clubhouse. and on Saturday we will be back at our clubhouse to watch the Bokke bounce back. We have ridden from Knysna to Cape Town on the road plenty of times and a few times on the dirt. your biggest challenge would be to satisfy everyone's diet and their expectations of a good sleep. We never had an issue finding value for money on the 'road' but our 'gravel travel' was a challenge

All races – last lap to be signalled either by the Commissaire blowing a whistle or ringing a bell Mechanicals – to be repaired at the designated ‘pit area’ in the presence of a race Commissaire Commissaires may inspect bicycles before the race and during a mechanical to determine if the mechanical is recognised or not. · 1 Lap of grace allowed for course longer than 1 km Definition of Mechanical · Recognised Mechanical due to breakage/crash/puncture: · Unrecognised Mechanical due to lack of maintenance of the bike Neutralised · Race to be neutralised by official vehicle at a controlled pace for safety reasons until course is cleared and safe to continue. · Restart – announcer to announce time left / laps left. Riders may not draft or attempt to draft official vehicle until it has pulled clear. General · Race to be stopped if crash occurs and injured riders require medical assistance. · Injured riders / riders with damaged helmet may not continue without the consent of the event medical officer. · Restart – announcer to announce time left to race / laps left. The restart will be from the start / finish line · Lapped riders to be removed from the race at the discretion of the referee. · A rider shall be deemed to have gained a lap when he catches up with the tail of the main bunch. · The classification shall be as follows: - the winner shall be the rider who covered the greatest number of laps. · If all riders have completed the same number of laps then the winner shall be the rider who was placed 1st during the final sprint.
