  1. Hey Ashchest, So Set-up is booked, aim here is to make the mini-scott as comfy as possible. Yes this is the weird thing I have always had the cramped feeling but never any real pain or discomfort the only pain I have sometimes, depending more on torque output is some front knee discomfort. But this is recently and I wonder if my mind has taken the whole bike to small thing and made it into something. I guess second option would be to maybe look for a larger frame and rebuild, but finances are tight so let's take it one step at a time. Will do detail write-up on bike fitment results and changes. Thanks again for all the input.
  2. Oky Feedback is what I wanted and feedback is what I got. So plan of action on my part: I have already booked my bike set-up ( someone professional ) for next month. Will advise changes and or post fitment photo's. Thanks everyone for the input, it has helped me and maybe it would answer other questions people had as well. See you out on the trails with my mini-Scott.
  3. I suspect this is exactly what happened to me, now I've learned.
  4. Now knowing this, I would to.Its unfortunately a expensive mistake.
  5. Hello Everyone I seek some advice regarding frame sizing and modifications to set-up. I am 1,78m weight 86kg's wide shoulders , fairly proportionate legs, arms etc.Not a beginner.Previous bike BMC Fourstroke XT Medium. I was advised by a sales rep at a store to go with a Medium frame Scott Spark RC Team. The purchase of the bike includes a "professional" bike fit which took about 15 min ( WARNING SIGNS ).Didn't think much of it because hey , I am a experience mountainbiker. So got home after purchase and immediately adjusted the saddle height which was very low.And never looked back. This was 9 months ago and I have only done about 3500km's since then ( Being a new father ). The bike is great, but I have a very "front-wheel-heavy" type of ride feel,I also struggle to get the front wheel over things. But not that much that I can't do it.The bike also feels tight in the crank BB section. This made me investigate the suspicion of maybe having a slightly to small frame. Scott's sizing guide on the website shows that I'm just just just just within the medium frame sizing. You could say I am right between Medium & Large I think height of saddle and front/aft position of the saddle is my biggest issues. As increasing the reach space by sliding the saddle back works......but then my knee aft position gets effected by the further back position and I can feel it effects my power output. So what I want help with is: Should I do the whole wider handlebars, longer stem, pro set-up scenario. Like would this be fixable, or should I shut up and save up and ride the Scott until I A) become so fit that the bike works LOL or B) can afford something else ( read: new father, probably only going to happen in like 10 years ) I am attaching pictures for reference, I know this doesn't show actual force being put through the pedals. But maybe you get an Idea. Any advise would be much appreciated Sidenote Should the sales rep have spotted the crampness.
  6. Just re-visiting this scenario, still Area 51 type of no ways in hell? anybody?
  7. Hi I would be keen on joining you every now and again. 082 330 9393 Thanks !
  8. Hi Guys I want to know, Zwartkop 356-JR is that military base near Valhalla / wierda road/ R55. That would be the best place to have a urban mountainbike park. Now I have quickly chatted with Tony that works there and he told be that no way that would be open to public riding , I just don't want to give up on that possibility. Does anybody know of someone I can see or chat with? Really feel it's a missed opportunity for everybody to enjoy nature in a "safer" environment, I would undertake some of the trail building myself etc. Any comments or recommendations welcome, let's ride !!!! Cheers
  9. Hi Hairy Will do thanks!! Heard about the trail pass , where do I get it www.tygerbergmtb.co.za or something? Are the back roads safe? as in Vissershok & adderley etc ? maybe I should specify. Are they traffic safe-ish? or mugger-safe-ish?
  10. Scudd , meaning I would like to ride both because both my bikes will be down with me. I like that invite.Closer to the time I will pm you so that we can set something up.
