  1. I have cycling kit and items to give away. DM me.
  2. All the best to those doing the Jock Cycle race. Hope you all have a good race. .....become addicted to pain BTW, you are not a cyclist until you have done the Jock Cycle race.
  3. Yep, then you are good to go. I hope you have a good one., and enjoy
  4. That could work. You also need to remember that you are doing +- 160km...so you will need to pace yourself. Use the flat or easier sections to recover. Tempratures can rise in the afternoon so you could be dealing with heat as well during the last stage.
  5. If you are not a good hill climber....invest in a triple front chainring
  6. I have done it 5 times....pitty they don't issue the old medals anymore - Jock mounted on a wooden base....but then again, I had my brother-in-law, after he saw my medals, ask me if I won them in a dog competition! If you want to test your readiness for the Jock hill climbs, a good litmus test is to do the Suikerbosrand 60km circuit twice....if you can still walk after that....then you are good to go
  7. IceCreamMan, I could never do a triathlon wearing a polony cruncher ....you are a brave man . I agree about trying out the tri suit.....I had a SkinFit tri suit and the front zip chafed me badly on my chest....
  8. I am from Gauteng and rode with my mate at Giba yesterday, on municycles. Awesome trails....I could have spent the entire day there.
  9. Try posting in a Golf forum B)
  10. Is a trail 'technical'? is such a broad term anyway as it depends entirely on the person's riding skills. Some people consider a trail with drop-offs technical. For others it could be steep descending single track.....or even just crossing a floating bridge - so in a nutshell, what I may consider technical, the rider next to me may not. So in my opinion people should familiarize themselves with the colour grading system which is indicative of distance and riding ability that is required - endurance required to complete the trail as well as riding ability and skill needed. I took a break from MTBiking for a few years, and it is nice to return to the sport to see all these bike parks with trails that have the 'chicken' runs giving riders the option to choose a route they are more comfortable doing based on their riding skills. I even saw it at Sabie Experience 2012 where the organizers included an easier detour at a steep drop-off thus not putting limited skilled riders under pressure.
  11. Agree with JGR....with all the training you will need to do, your bum will get used to it......if not, then maybe you shouldn't be doing Ironman
  12. Cool, thanks.
  13. Tri suite is the way to go, then you don't waste time in transition. For men it is fine, but it does not work well for some women though, especially if the swim is a sea swim....the chaffing can be bad on 1/2 and full ironman distances.
  14. When is it? October?
  15. Any responses yet?
