  1. There is no shoulder on Vissershok. Its also a really steep climb and not everyone can go up at the same pace especially at the back end of a fun ride, so a more liberal use of the road is to be expected.
  2. Just to illustrate - Hot Spot cycles want R10 500, I payed R 6100 with shipping and paypal fees and then about R140 vat/duty/handling fees as it was marked as a $ 100 gift. So let me understand, you go on an open forum and brag how you and your supplier knowingly and willingly defrauded the South African Revenue Service? You should be ashamed of yourself! Duties are there for a reason and we are legally bound to pay them. With CRC all items are declared and at least VAT is payable. It's people like you who cause the rest of us to suffer when our goods are delayed by customs and extra duties are levied. Do the right thing and sort this out, I have no respect for you, Karma will find you! What kind of stupid person admits an illegal act in a forum like this? Jeepers Mackie are you being serious? The Guy shows us his new wheels and you declare war on anyone who fails to pay their taxes. We as South Africans pay enough with our high taxes and interest rates. Who cares if you can sneak a wheel set through with out paying the required taxes. Id better not say anything about the Mountain Kings that are coming from the UK in someones luggage! Hey WW the wheels look great enjoy.
  3. Geax Barro Mountain are great all rounders. For a guide on what to buy for a particular type of terrain check out their web site. I ride Majik Hillcrest & Contemans regularly and the barro mountains have been all good.
  4. I was hoping for a 3h30m. With the wind and some cramps managed a 3h46m. Hey Geno, Our times were pretty close again.
  5. Pictures taken from the top of Contermans Kloof on my way back to Hillcrest. From my house in Door de Kraal rode up Majik Forest then thorough Hillcrest to Contermans Kloof did the loop there and then back to Hillcrest for the red loop and back through Majik to my house. Good 40km Saturday am ride with a decent amount of climbing.
  6. Damn, X C Cruiser! Me 2:58 Burger. You 2:57. Me 3:23 Medallion. You 3.25. Me 3:33 99er. You 3:30. That is some close stats! Yeah they are close. Why aren't you doing the Wellington ride today? What was your start group for the 99er?
  7. If you are starting from G - I would be surprised if you do NOT do a sub 4h. On the other hand' date=' if you are starting in GG, than a sub 4h would be a good time. [/quote'] No Its definatley G. I did a 2h57min Burger, 3h25min Tour de Stellenbosch and a 3h30min 99ner. So a hopefully a sub 4 is on the cards.
  8. Im riding in G group this year. Anybody know what sort of time the majority of G normally does (excluding the year of the wind)? I started in OF last year (at the back and on a MTB) and did 5h40min. Keen for a Sub 4. ANyone else riding G let me know your ETA.
  9. If its your first Argus then you will probably be stopping anyway. Hydration packs are fine if you're on a MTB but not so cool if you're on a Road Bike.
  10. Is somebody going to post more info (time & place) or do I need to PM somebody?
  11. Are you guys riding Saturday or Sunday? Have you got any idea about what route?
  12. I've just upgrade my bike and now have hydrolic disk brakes. I took the bike out for a ride today and the brakes worked fine. Now after I cleaned the bike the brakes squeal like all hell. Is this because they are wet? and will it go away on its own or do I need to do something?
  13. Mainly XC with some single track & Trails. Budget is about R2500. Would also like to hear from people who have ridden the crossrides.
  14. Would like some opinions on the Mavic Crossrides. Im 98kg Have been riding for a year. Any thoughts?
