  1. I have the biggest girl crush on Batty! HAHHAHA - My hubby doesn't seem to mind though....
  2. I agree 100% and then the few right at the end were also rather challenging when you are that exhausted! - It was heart breaking to hear the microphone in the distance and knowing there are only 2km to go until the end and you turn to face a crazy technical uphill and downhill....
  3. This was probably the toughest day I have ever had in the saddle - but the most rewarding once I crossed the finished line. 77km of real MTB riding! Race organisers were amazing and the route was fantastic (although at the time I was dying). The views were out of this world breath taking! My little bit of advice for people who want to do it next year for the first time... don't think the race ends after the 'monster' - there is still a good 40km to go, so save a little gas. You also need to be mentally strong - I was playing a lot of mind games with myself during the second half of the race - you need to learn to DIG VERY DEEP- I promise its worth not giving up and actually finishing the race. I'll be back again for sure!
  4. I have the exact same problem and have been told by everyone that its the battery that needs to be replaced.... started looking around as I'll need a new battery before TB in Aug - found decent deals on deal extreme... http://dx.com/p/rechargeable-8-4v-4400mah-18650-battery-pack-for-bike-light-black-174289 - looks like free shipping to SA too... haven't ordered yet so don't know what deal extreme is like. They also have amazing deals on lights... http://dx.com/p/t6-waterproof-xml-t6-3-mode-1200-lumen-white-led-bike-light-with-battery-pack-set-82510
  5. Just in case you didn't see my msg on the other thread... Please please please, can you put your Shimano XT 9Spd Cassette (11 /32) on special! *puppy eyes*
  6. There is a nice loop from Dullstroom to Tonteldoos (and a nice coffee shop at the half way point).... go toward Dunkeld Country Estate (See the sign as you come into Dullstroom on the main road) and follow the dirt road to Tonteldoos. I see there is a race going on in Dullies too on the 2nd March 2013 (http://www.alltheevents.co.za/event/dunkeld-mtb-dullstroom-2013/?instance_id= )... maybe contact the organisers and see if they can't take you out too?? The Kruisfontein loop is also a lot of fun. There are loads of rolling hills and dirt roads around Dullstroom - Just get on your bike and wing it! Hope that helps... I got married there in October 2012 and a big group of my guests went out mtb on the morning of the wedding (the Tonteldoos loop) and they couldn't stop raving about the views - I was so jealous I couldn't join them, but the groom was with them and I didn't want to see him before the big event!!

  10. Whoo friday is done and dusted..... now its SANI2C fun full blast until next week thursday (My birthday ) and then its birthday fun in Umhlanga til Sunday.... bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have an awesome ride everyone - See the trail riders on the trail!
  11. Tell you partner his life is not worth it.... he should quit his job and ride rather than subject himself to the magnitute of the temper tantrum you are entitled to have!!!!!
  12. Does anybody know were to find a route profile for Tuesday???
  13. oh my word I had sooooo much fun last night at the night race! It was my first one and I must say staying at race pace constantly for an hour is insane.... but cant wait to do it again next week! what a great way to break up the week! See you all next wednesday!!!!!!!
  14. as a female South African, my local 'hero' has to be Yolande Speedy.... that chick can ride - she even puts alot of our local pro males to shame!
  15. I was there last night and had an absolute blast! Definitely want to make it a weekly thing - night riding is a class of its own. whoo! With regards to the guy who broke his leg - thumbs up to the cycle park for doing a great job at responding and calling for medical assistance - and thumbs down to the first ER24 team that arrived and refused to go into the cycle park because they didn’t want to go into the bush! :thumbdown - Luckily 2 more ER24 teams arrived and a fire engine all ready to respond. Hope the guy has a quick recovery and finds himself back on the bike in no time!
