  1. I agree. Don't put any training wheels on. Let her enjoy the black plastic type bikes until she can reach. You'll be amazed at how quickly they learn to balance. My 2 year old can ride down a slope with her feet up on the balance bike after a few weeks on it. Training wheels will just be a crutch that will hold her back in the longer run.
  2. I'm not using them. My egg beaters are on a commuter bike, the bearings are perfect but they really need a replacement spring to get them back to a good condition, which I'm not going to bother with. I use other pedals on my mtb. Think I bought 2 sets when they were on special years ago.
  3. I literally have a set in my draw. If you don't come right send me a DM. Will have to send from JHB though.
  4. I'm not sure I understand the difference in value between this and the Core... For a difference of R7k you are getting adjustable feet and a bigger flywheel? There was a R5k difference between the core and the kickr 4 a year ago when I bought the core, and at the time I couldn't figure out the difference... Maybe I'm missing something? I'm just glad I got the Core a year ago at R13k I suppose the accuracy improvement is valid, but +-2% isn't something I'm too stressed about
  5. Sounds like quite a few are saying that the barriers are not up to UCI standard. This shows a direct comparison with the Cav/Sagan crash: https://twitter.com/alexfalkeman/status/1291128716727324672
  6. I will contact Jacaranda Childrens home. They seem like a good option. I am in the Sandton area, if there are any other local options?
  7. Hi guys, I have a few old helmets in good condition I would like to donate to someone that can use them. Any ideas of anyone that would be in need? Thanks
  8. I don't get the issue people have... They are not supposed to instantly change as you go into the shade, and normal sunglasses will be even worse (by not changing at all). The alternative is a person with normal sight or contact lenses that takes off their glasses when they go into shade (which means taking the hands off the bars, tucking it into helmet or onto shirt etc.)... this is not going to happen fast either so... Why do people expect instant changing? For me the point is I can go riding at 5am or on a cloudy day and still works when it gets sunny too.
  9. I used to wear contacts, but to be honest I find them a bit of a hassle. I bit the bullet and got a pair of transition lens oakleys made up, and since that day I have never put contacts in once. It's just so much easier. Transitions mean I can wear them in varying light conditions, and I haven't had a problem with that. The only downside has happened once: mid ride it starts raining and I can't see with the glasses and can't see without them
  10. Thanks, yeah, me too Physio says there's no stress fracture, but off for 6 weeks. And to be honest, I've been so on and off that my milage is no where near enough.
  11. Hi guys, I've been struggling on and off with shin splints since December and I just haven't build up the volume I need to do these races, so I'm letting the entries go. 2 Oceans Ultra Marathon entry up for grabs: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/351411-2-oceans-ultra-marathon-entry/ Comrades Marathon entry up for grabs: https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/351413-comrades-marathon-entry/
  12. Hi all, I'm looking for a balance bike for my 2yr old. I have seen Strider recommended on here and by friends. Here's the problem: The website is outdated (even showing security issues) and all bikes are out-of-stock. The facebook, twitter, etc are all closed down and the support number on the website isn't being answered. On the website no dealers are listed. Are they still operating? Are there any known dealers? Alternatively, what are the best recommendations for a balance bike. I've seen Muna, FirstBike, Chillafish, Cruzee...
  13. Can anyone give recommendations around bluetooth earphones that are comfortable for running. Looking to get a pair, but there are a lot out there and its difficult to gauge what is comfortable or not.
  14. I also got one and I'm having trouble getting my 2 year old on it. He loves his push bike and riding together in the driveway but wants nothing to do with getting on the star seat. I'm hoping soon he'll warm up to it. I got a sportsman's warehouse helmet that actually seems pretty decent quality and the tightening dial works nicely.
  15. How badly is your pedal stroke (knees) affected by the star seat? I know someone else who had one of the big plastic front seats and he said that his knees got sore from riding with them out sideways that he just stopped using it. This does look thinner, but is this an issue?
