  1. you will never need that much pressure IMO, i have never needed to use more than 3 bar to seat a 29er tire when using a canister, i believe that the trick is getting the high volume into the wheel and the pressure at which the volume is put into the wheel is not that important.
  2. same day as the Trans Drak
  3. Feel free to bring your own! +1
  4. Hi NicoR, you will be given a SS Timing board for the race
  5. Registration is on Friday at Sportsmanswarehouse - The Glen and at the Race Venue from 13H00 - 17H00 There is plenty of parking at the venue but considering the numbers involved there certainly will be some congestion getting in and out
  6. Hi Worriesnot, you will still be able to change at registration
  7. the 40km has about 180m elevation gain so its perfect to get back into the swing of things
  8. Hi Leeubok In a nutshell its flat and fast! Total elevation gain on the 70km is about 600m. The route is mostly jeep track with some amazingly fast single track sections, there is no massively technical sections in the race other than a few water crossings but all rideable Below is the route from last year, there is a bit of a change to the route this year that adds about 180m elevation gain to the route.
  9. Hi Sdaghers thanks for pointing that out start times are: Start time/s: 70KM: 07:30 40KM: 07:45 10KM: 08:00 4KM: 08:05
  10. Hi Tbird, yip thats the one, go past the cemetery and just follow the boards from there see you there!
  11. Hi Ben the Gravel cat will be captured when you collect your number board, it is not specified on the online entry system. Please just remember to tell the folks at registration that you will be riding a gravel bike. We will then give further details about the batch start at the race briefing. regards PJ
  12. Hi Brandon We intend to have a separate category all together, so the gravel category will have a separate start to avoid any interference with the MTB race.
  13. Gravel Cat is a go! Let hope there is a lot of interest! Just bear in mind that there are some technical parts on the 70km race that you may have to portage on the gravel bike see you all there
  14. What do you guys think... would there be interest for a Gravel bike category? totally independent of the rest of the race, subject to specific rules and regulations? I think the terrain would be perfect for a Gravel bike.
  15. Hi Buzzboxsa this event is timed by SS Timing
  16. Thx Fixed!

  18. Hey guys, glad you enjoyed the event, just to explain the situation regarding the shortened route, as Scotty mentioned, the route would have turned around at about the same point as in the past but we got word of a large group of cyclists heading towards the turn around point from the opposite side, word from the marshal was that the group was in excess of 100 riders, I am not sure if it was a training group or another event but we made a decision on the fly to avoid the turn around point and rather head back to the finish via the intersection. This meant the distance was reduced to 39km, this applied to everybody on the short route. so everybody did the same distance. If anybody has any info on the group that was on the road please let me know, my understanding is that the finish point was at the Kareekloof turnoff, it seems like a well organized ride as there was support vehicles as well as an emergency vehicle with the riders.
  19. All previous results are available on spectrumsport.co.za
  20. If the weather is good I think we could go sub 2:20 even though the route is a bit longer past results in terrible conditions 2016 - 2:16:28 2015 - 2:12:42 2014 - 2:17:15

  22. hey guys, sorry I don't have a route profile at the moment, will try to get something up before the weekend, with regards to the weather, we have had some hectic weather the last three years so we really hoping to get a break this year from Mecheng89's post it seems the wind is not going to be an issue this year. Lets hold thumbs!! look on the bright side, if you are part of the first 600 entries you get a wind jammer that will take care of any bad weather. as the saying goes, "You don't get bad cycling weather ... only bad clothing"
  23. Hi Cassie The new route measures +- 95 km (speedo error) we will do the route with a GPS the weekend and advise but I don't think it will make 100km the 45km route distance remains the same
  24. Enter Be4dawn, there is a MTB specific batch this year!
  25. Hi Cassie the route has been changed, it is now a circle route as per the event page hope to see you there!
