  1. Is there something wrong with this woman?! 8000miles, not experienced, WTF???!!!!
  2. Shoe, verstaan jy?
  3. I'm sitting with the same problem, actually went as far as to buy the slicks, or semi's, but still need a decent pair of rims, but then I'd need another 9 speed casette, and all the rest, big mission. Might just buy a very cheap roadie, but dang, what if I get into the road thing, hope that is my last day on earth
  4. If you are going to sort him out, take me with!!! I need new spokes for my front wheel
  5. Won't work for me tho, just pull my pump out, extend it, and wave it around while shouting, F%$# you you Mo*&%$^$ F^%&%$^ B^%&^%, and when they stop, then I take my front wheel off, hehehehe . Thanks God for quick release!!!
  6. Beeach-asses , these douches have nothing better to do????
  7. Thats not bad at all ekse, was looking at that frame as an upgrade, thanks for the info
  8. Mampara, did you get your frame from CRC? If so, how much was it all-in-all to you door? Nice looking bike by the way
  9. Marcy Playground - Sex and Candy
  10. For R3000 it's most def better to go second hand. You will find yourself buying something your budget allows, only to later discover that you have bought a piece of crap, and to upgrade then, is going to be a bit costly. Rather get something that is used (not abused) and get used to riding first, then decide if you want to spend your hard earned R8K+ on something much better. The upgrade will be like going to heaven and getting a lifetime pass-out, believe me!!!!
  11. Acera / Altus - Bottom of the lot Alivio Deore SLX Deore XT XTR - Top of the lot If I were you, I'd be looking out for full Deore Components, they will last the longest for a relative entry level bike @ around R5-6000+ Good luck with you bike hunting and welcome to the MTB scene....
  12. Absolutely have to agree with Silverback, they have good bikes for reasonable prices. If you can afford to spend a liitle more, rather go for the Phoenix, full Deore comp. and this bike will give you hours and days and years of pleasure!!!!
  13. It sometimes takes a while, but if there is system problems, then I suggest you e-mail them. What really helps, if you order frequently, is to befriend someone there, they will help you chop-chop
  14. My friend also has the Reno, and quite successfully negotiated some serious mountain biking in Groenkloof, and trust me, it works. So if you are looking for the best bang for your buck, because I know Silverback and trust it, you are pretty well off with the Reno. Just get better peddles and cleats and shoes, and you will be enjoying your ride..... Good luck with the buy....
  15. Yup would have to agree DesertConvert, but on the other side, if you are not going to be riding that much, the Alpine wil do just fine. It all depends on what you are going to do with the bike after the comrades. If you are planning to sell, you will only get half of what you paid...

The silverback has better groupset (gears 24 speed vs. Giant 21 speed, etc) the fork is better on the Silverback. Seems like you set you sights on one of these two bikes already. What about the HKS Alite series, or the Wheeler bikes from Solomons, check these links: Wheeler -http://www.solomons.co.za/node/1033 Bianchi - http://www.solomons.co.za/node/1028 - Very decent bike this!!! Fuji - http://www.solomons.co.za/node/939 - Also in your price range. Lets see what you decide, but all these bikes ar ein the same price range, and therefor have more or less the same speced items etc bolted on the frames, hey, then again, I might be wrong
  17. First you have to cycle a bit with someone else's bike, no really. If you buy the Reno, which is a very nice bike. But after spending your hard earned cash, I promise you you will want to upgrade within the first 6 months. Find out how much you like MTB riding first, and then decide what you want to buy. I know a lot of people who bought bikes, and then they upgraded the parts and the frames etc. If I go by what I know, just get something proper that you will be happy with for a long time = money well spent
  18. Good morning all my fellow hubbers!!! Just wanted to say a merry Christmas and an enormously prosperous New Year to all. May 2010 hold all the heavenly riding your heart desires, and may we all start in pole position God Bless, and keep safe... "I don't know what THAT is.... But I want one"
  19. Must have been the slow bunch in A5 then
  20. I completely agree with Clare about the "would have been nice to complete it", after all, I paid for 50Km worth of riding, all they could have done was extend the cut off with an approximation of what the time was we waited in the bottle necks, all I needed was about 10 minutes anyway...
  21. Good point Eldron . What you are saying makes a lot of sense, but how could one seed if you can't make up your time in these races because of all the congestion. I know it can't all be good, but at least just a little better you know. Anyway, next time I probably will enter again, and by then, I hope that I will be closer to A1 than this year, eish ....
  22. A fact of life is that you should learn from past mistakes. As I can gather, some people enjoyed it tremendously, and some just hated the congestion, like me. Standing still for 10 - 15min is really not enjoyable, seriously. I also had a couple of races in this year, and non was this bad.....
  23. I don't know about all the people who rode the 50km on Saturday, but the congestion was horrific!!! I mean really now, could the organisers not have known this up front, and changed the route a little. We must have waited around 30min all together and this caused us to miss the cut off we weren't aware of. Then there were 3 Marshalls with 3 different opinions as to where we should cycle to next. My 50km turned out to be a very short 30km... What a disappointment, next year I'm trading my offroad for a roadie, sad to say... Come on people, get with the program...!!!!
  24. Oh YEAH!!!! Now were talking!!! Skillet - Monster
  25. It could have been me that created this list, WTF??? Who are you man ????
