  1. Hi everyone - Can anyone recommend a local (South African) supplier or manufacturer of bicycle wheel decals? I have had some scratches on my DT Swiss X420SL rims removed and the rims powder coated but now I need to replace the decals ....can be custom or original.
  2. My 2010 Specialized Epic Comp FSR 26er........just love riding this bike but suppose I also need to give my Scott 29er some love!!
  3. I try to support my local cycle retailers here in East London but find that generally they are more expensive than elsewhere and more often than not do not have what I am looking for. For example I recently purchased a Scott Spark 960 2016 model in Port Elizabeth at R20 800. For the same bike in East London I was quoted R25 000. Obviously I made the 600km return trip to PE and saved R4000. The same applies to the cost and availability of spares and gear. Have recently resorted to on-line purchases from BUYCYCLE and EASYBIKES and in both instances I received prompt efficient service and delivery..... and once again huge savings. Would recommend both these local South African suppliers.
  4. Hey I'm no welding expert but apparently aluminium can be welded by a specialist. Damaged/cracked aluminium cylinder heads have been welded for ages in the motor industry. As soon as I can remove the rear a-frame from my Raleigh RDS 7.0 I'll take it somewhere to see if it can be successfullywelded and I'll give you all some feedback.
  5. Hey guys and girls - I bought this 2008 Trek Fuel Ex 7 for a song about 2 years ago and decided to give it a facelift. Did all the painting and mechanics myself and although I do some serious mountain biking on my Scott Spark and Specialized Epic Carbon, this has become my "fun bike" that I ride when out with the grandchildren. Probably spent about R7000 in total - bike included.
  6. I recently purchased an older Raleigh RDS 7.0 of 2006 vintage (See pic) on an auction. The paint job is very "old school" so I am planning to respray the frame. I have stripped everything off the frame except the rear A-frame which has got me puzzled. I have removed the hexagonal bolt from the pivot but am stumped at how to get the actual pivot bolt/bearing out so that I can separate the rear a-frame from the main frame. Can anyone help???
  7. DJE... I was reading your post today (was actually trying to find some help in removing the main pivot on the rear a-frame which I want to respray) and decided to check my 2006 RDS 7.0 frame. Guess what, it has a hairline crack in the same place!!!!
