  6. Does anyone perhaps have last years roadbook/instructions for the Support Driver?
  7. splat I see you are in Cape Town, if you want to test your gearing on climbs, look at this route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15548125 Paarlberg offers a 13km long climb with gradients in the region of what you will find on the MAC, the ride to Paarl will also put some kms on the legs to reflect a more realistic picture.
  8. I imported the provided gpx file into ridewithgps to share with my team mates, I also had to choose the correct track, you can download this gpx file and import into your desired app. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/15548141
  9. Heard this morning from a friend that just returned from holiday that the roads are very bad on the Jbay side of the kloof, sinkplaat and bad potholes, especially since the good rains of 3 weeks ago and the trucks delivering the citrus products.
  10. I think the training is on track, but the kniee pain after 130km is no joke, don't really know what to make of it, maybe just pop a few pain killers and man up.
  11. Team PubTyres just got confirmation that our substitution is successful, this will be our first time at the TB, so complete newbies. All accommodation is booked and paid, so one less thing to worry about. Looking forward to the Trans Talk on Tuesday to gain some more information that we did not manage to get from these forums.
  12. All the best, we stopped at the accident, am I correct in saying their were a lady also that fell?
  13. I use Aramex Global Shopper a lot, decent prices and very reliable if compared to SA Postal services. It also helps when US or UK local shipping is free to the Aramex offices. Payments are handled via Paypal and all shipping includes to door delivery. If I remember, packages upto 500g/1lbs is R175 without customs from the US. Very heavy parts like car brake rotors is a no no with this service.
  14. At the end of the day I went for a 1x setup, just used the GX 1400 crank, this way I can swop spiders and convert to 2x if needed without changing cranks. But as I see it I'll just gear it by swapping chainrings, for a long event like the TransBaviaans a 30 or even a 28 will work a treat, no need to paddle like crazy on the downhills at night.
