  12. Thanks Johan i'll probably rebuild the front with Revos later. @Splat : 731g Front , 824g Rear That includes Tape and Valves. Brass nipples were used.
  13. I have just bought a set of Stans Crests with American Classic Hubs. the bike shop built up the wheels using DT Comp Spokes (2-1.8-2) on the front wheel The rear drive side is also comps with the non drive using Revolution (2-1.5-2) Any comments on this build, i thought that the front wheel would have been built with Revolutions as well? They also mixed DT and Sapim spokes on the front wheel, i assume that these spokes are very similar so i guess it makes very little difference.
  14. Arch EX are now slightly lighter at 450g
  15. Anyone loose cycling shoes, sunglasses, helmet. - organisers found these along with stuff of mine. would like to share courier costs back to CT.
  16. Did Lighthouse 2 Lighthouse this weekend and it was a great event as usual. It's realatively cheap compared to many other stage races and the proceeds go to the Lions Club Gansbaai which is great. At the Camping area in Agulhas there was a Hermanus Cycles guy washing bikes, he was charging R100 for a wash! or R50 if you washed it yourself! I asked if the proceeds were going to charity and he replied yes to feed my children. on previous years we paid R25. I think it's disgusting that on a race where everything is geared toward charity that someone can come along and rape the Mountain bikers for R100 per wash. i doubt he charges that at his shop, most bike shops would charge half that for a wash and lube.
  17. What Bakkie u have, My mate got a old school bike rack and cut it down bolted it into his caddy and bikes just push in could use a bungee cord to secure the back of the bikes but they fit snugly and we often don't bother.
  18. In the first pic you can see that the old Kyserium spokes are slightly wider than the new Aksium ones. Second pic shows very little thread visible on the kyserium spoke as opposed to the third pic showing the Aksium spoke.
  19. Perhaps they are a newer Aksium spoke, they seem to be tensioned correctly from comparing with another wheel. i'll take a pic and post it soon.
  20. After replacing the 4 spokes i had the wheel trued 3 times(by 3 different bike shops) after a short ride it would run out again. i then sent the wheel to dragon. Was very unhappy with the service. They blatantly lied and told me all the spokes in the wheel were siezed up and they had to replace them. they could not give me the old spokes either. I had personally removed all the spokes and cleaned and inspected each one before assembling them back into the rim! the 3 bike shops would not have been able to true the wheel if the spokes were siezed! They Rebuilt it using Aksium spokes as the did not have Kyserium ones in stock. it now runs true, Anyone Know if it is ok to use Aksium spokes? the nipples don't screw in as far into the rim as the original spokes?
  21. My wheels are probably the same age just under 4 years old, they're great wheels just not very service friendly when something breaks. Dragon will only sell complete spoke+nipple+nut so i now need to buy 4 more spokes:( anyone in CT have any broken spokes lying around?
  22. I guess it was most likely a quote to replace all of the spokes, at R35 per spoke 20 spokes R700 they sent it to Dragon Sports so this was the quote from dragon.
  23. I have a set of Kyserium Elites and took the wheel to be trued, bike shop called to say the spokes were seized in the nipples and that it would cost just under 1K to fix! i got the wheel back and sprayed some Q10 on the spokes/nipples left it for a few hours and managed to get all but 3 spokes free. 2 of the spokes bent and i had to toss them and the 3rd nipple broke in half(luckily the second half was easy to get out the rim. in order to clean and free the nipples up properly i needed to remove the brass nuts from the spoke and i did not take notice of the nut position, is the position different for the drive and non drive sides. The spokes are identical lengths but you can adjust length by moving the brass nut. anyone know how i find out the correct spoke length so i can correctly set this is there anywhere you can buy spares for these spokes as i just need the nuts, or do i have to buy new spokes Thanks BB

    MTB shoes

if you have wide feet avoid the Specialized, my shoes split in front and they said it was because i should have bought the wider half size which they don't bring into SA, The carbon sole versions might be less prone to this as they flex less. i had Sidi dominator 5's before, great shoes.
