  2. 1 yes was a copy and paste fit 2 uhmmm I dont know hey cant really answer that Q, I dont ride long/hard enough Mtb to say... It feels the same to me jst slightly lighter obv...
  3. Hi Peeps, looking for some guidance Looking to sell my personal mtb Kinda custom, its a silverback Sesta carbon front, sido rear. 1 x 11 xtr Recon front, fox float rear Custom sprayed etc. Roval carbon wheels with tune prince axlightness hub(very loud)... The frame has a small crack on the seat tube been riding like that for a very long time... (also have the sido frame to throw in)....
  4. Bought 1 in 2014...use it 2/3 times a week... Absolutely no issues...
  5. Being a rep I work on the road and do 1000s of km a year... I have almost owned EVERY BRAND under the sun! I now own a Renault Duster(almost 5 yrs old) and plan on paying it finished.. Not far to go... I have had 0 issues... I was VERY SCEPTIC when i 1st considered 1...did LOADS of research... Spent DAYS!... ONLY HAD POSITIVE reviews from all the different magz and people who owned them. Had to do my brakes in the beginning of last year. Renault quote was R5800... Had it done pvt cost me R1750.. With the discs and pads that renault and all other manufacturers buy from midas and re brands... Have had 0 issues... I am very happy. This is my 3rd car that i will fully own...and defn not planning on getting rid of it might just pass it on to mom and dad and get the new 1 in the next year or so... BTW google Mercedes A class renault motor... Nissan mp300 double cab engin Mp200 engin...
  6. How does one create a little voting poll thingy in a thread? Can any1 do that? Would love to see the outcome tho... Disc? Rim?
  7. Hi Chris, to be honest there are a few comments i havent read as it was too insightful... Dunno if that makes any sense at all... I just checked in so now and then to see if i could get a plain and simple... Rim, or disc... I am appreciative of all the advice.. But as mentioned this just confused the hell out of me and decided,............... To just carry on with wot i have right now, wait and see how things play out in the next 6 mnths-year. Mayb just upgrade to a carbon frame for now and eventually when there is more clarity. Do a complete upgrade or new purchase...
  8. Hi, so there a few comments i wouldve liked to highlight and respond to, i just dont know how to do it... I think the take is... Buy what you want and what is gonna make you happy... I have to be honest, since i AM BUYING WITH THE IDEA that i would like something new, something fresh... (and honestly 17secs over 100km means nothing to me) infact the extra 300g means nothing i could probably lose that in a day... To take total weight to bike plus human = 90kg and not 90.3kg... Sooo am learning towards disc... Wil i regret it? I dont know.. I wouldn't know what to compare it to either way... But thanx for all the advice, it is most welcome.
  9. This is exactly what id thought the outcome would be... Some sort of devide... And even MORE CONFUSION as to what to buy... Atleast im getting advice from both sides. But ja, more confused than ever... However, leaning towards the idea of if i am gonna be on my bike for 2 3 4 hours.. Might as well make it as comfy as possible... Because getting home at 11.32, or 11.58 on a Saturday morning prob gonna make no difference. Do i need to come to a DEAD STOP... When on the road when there is ABSOLUTELY nothing in front of you? Unlike when going downhill on a mtb Or do I, who is already 11kg overweight wana save 300g? Good G, im rather gonna take up running which i absolutely HATE. THIS biking thing, ek weet nie meer so mooi nie...
  10. Shooo, im even more confused now.... So the occasional ride to franschoek etc and back... 70km, bottelary road kuilsriver lord Charles etc... Its just that i am DEFN due for an upgrade(if you wana call it that)... Or just a newer bike... So just wana make sure im doing the right thing.. Wont happen again for next 5 6 7 yrs...
  11. Thanx Jaques yes titan does tick my boxes will defn have a look at caad aswell if its in the same class... And can only imagine the improved ride.. As mentioned im riding a 2013 alu bike...
  12. Yea thanx for the feedback... But wot does future proof mean tho?... Lol... "be part of the biking look"? And not the actual ride... So yea that is also a thought that the rim wheels and frames might just drop, or have to.. Or you just keep the older one as an extra bike...
  13. Sooo... Im a "nor here, nor there" kind of rider(dont know if this makes any sense).. Not riding 100-120km on a Saturday with a group(might get there).. Currently just with 1 or 2 buddies like 60km 70km per ride... I do get the whole thing bout the carbon being stiffer etc had the emx1 few years back and was very Happy with it.. Then had to "downgrade" for financial reasons... So yes i do understand all the questions however, I do both mtb and road, but more road... And just want my next buy to be as mentioned earlier "future proof"? And is maintenance on disc brakes THAT EXPENSIVE? PS.. looking at Titan Valerian... Ticks all my boxes...
  14. But woudnt it mayb be able to get rim much cheaper? Or dont you guys foresee the price to drop THAT much to justify lateral?.. My thoughts are definitely on disc tho.
  15. Hi Hubbers, thinking of getting something new.. My bike is 7 yrs old... Alu. I do feel that im not getting out what im putting in. So, the thinking is definitely carbon and disc brakes?... Is that the way to go? Or should i hang on a bit and when disc becomes a bit more available and everyday- the rim brake bikes price should drop significantly? And just move lateral?
  16. Yea since i cycle, jogging is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE...HATE EVERY METER OF IT. but i sacrificed a few outings just for my boy to get use to it. And ya in that way you can really go uphill or at certain speeds if u really wana get a proper jog in... Then slowly start leaving the stick... Without her knowing. Went down the beach strip think last year and like i said every single person i past sed brilliant CHEAP IDEA. instead of buying this bike and that bike...
  17. Yea figured out how to upload...so yea I just kept the 16 inch at the time.(slightly to big) and lowered the seat completely...after 3 or 4 rides he didn't even realise I wasn't holding the stick anymore.
  18. Hi jako, i made the same mistake with my son. Just some advice, i am not too sure if you riding with or jogging with her? I would perhaps make a sacrifice or 2,by jogging with her. I wish i could post a pic or vid, but i have no idea how...wot I did was to build some confidence was to take a nice and strong broom stick and just stick it in the back thru that little gap behind the seat... You then get to controll/ help with the balance and pedaling.. I know this is a long msg but every single person would stop and say they wish they thought of that... Took my soon no more than about 10 times from NOT BEING able to cycle.. To now he can cycle on his 20inch next to me
  19. Fully agree with you, made the example that vw is charging R300k for a polo in SA... And we PAYING...willing seller bla bla I WOULD HANG ON TO THOSE IDTs though.
  20. Hey cookie88, yes i canceled my gym membership last year july... Infact my gym closed down and i was forced to shop around...i coudnt get myself to paying R400 to R600 a month for gym fees... Even with or without vitality its all alredy worked into the price so you defn not saving... Trust me. I ended buying a tacx flow wich i abssss love. I use it regularly even before lockd. Also bought a excellent cond treadmill off gumtree for R2k... All you need.
  21. I went to go check now, its a schwalbe lugano thats on now. Like i sed i literally jst took a random old tyre lying around. Lol. With some of my other tyres ther was a bit of rubber coming off, but VERY LITTLE. with this current one which ive been using for 5 weeks strait, nuthn. Bt yea too re iterate i ride atleast 1h30m every day and that tyre is 90% like it was 5 weeks ago.
  22. Cadence i use have a tacx flow, and i use a normal road tyre.. One that was lying around in the garage... I dont hear any noise when training anymore.having said that i have never trained with a trainer tyre before so wont know if mines actually loud. Wear is minimal to be honest i ride every day even before lockdown...
  23. Yea Swiss, also read up a bit and been doing some training on an empty stomach in the morning, then have my bowl of oats afta wards... Lost 4kgs so far. 83kg-79kg...
