  1. Cool, not stupid question???? I tried to do that this weekend but made a critical error... I disassembled the caliper before popping out the pistons. So pistons stuck inside the caliper body and cant get them out. To rebleed, force them out using hydraulic pressure then disassemble and reassemble. Seems like a huge mission if they are buggered completely.
  2. Yes, 100s bled. No bubbles and pressure was good.
  3. Okay awesome. That's for that advice. Will look into new breaks???? As a general rule...are elixir rotors compatible with other brands?
  4. Hi guys I'm having issues with my avid elixir CR pistons. They seem to be beyond sticky, to the point where they are not resetting and make contact with the rotor constantly. I have cleaned them multiple times by removing the rotors, the pads, exposing the pistons and cleaning with solvent and string. But they're not coming right Seeing that they are about 10 yeats old is it time to replace....or another way to clean sticky pistons?
  5. Howzit guys I'm looking for a wheel builder in PE to sort out my wheel issue The wheel is an American Classic MTB tubeless type with Aluminium nipples which have weakend over years of use. Some have stripped which makes truing the wheel impossible. My LBS recommended I have all the nipples and some spokes replaced but are not up to the task. There may even be a chance that the rim needs to be replaced but I'd rather not... So any advice would be great Thanks

  7. I bought set of maxxis ikon 29x2.35, mounted them and... Oh, what a fantastic XC tyre! They inspire confidence on the downhill, stick like super glue in the corners and give a smoother, cushier ride. Huge difference between the 2.2 and 2.35.
  8. Hi Lapierre What did you go with in the end? I am facing the same challenge... Sent from my E5603 using Tapatalk
  9. Howzit okes Please vote for me as your bicycing champ. I need your votes to keep the dream alive and win a Toyota Foutuna. So if you are feeling generous, please give me the nod. http://toyota.bicycling.co.za/entries/robert-smith/ Much appreciated!
  10. Dankie oaks! Thanks for all the constructive answers
  11. Hi guys So I have notices there seems to be a trend to have a smaller rotor on the back wheel than the front I.e. 160mm back; 180mm front. This seems a bit back to front to me. Larger rotor have better heat dispersion and braking power. So why have them on the front... Having larger rotors on the back wheel makes more sense. I use my back brake far more frequently than the front. So my thinking is that I would better benefit from have a larger rotor on the back. Maybe I ride differently to most? I'd like hear your thoughts on this. Thanks
  12. Hi Guys I once heard (or read somewhere) that transporting a duel suspension MTB on racks (tow hitch/ rear type) where the bike hangs/ is held by its frame will damage the back shock. Any truth to this?
  13. So let me get this straight: a tapered steerer is the preferred steerer to use in this headset?
