One wonders how the Hub Rant would read if the headline was:

    "Julius Malema Murdered"

Let me guess many would be saying what the ANC party chiefs are saying now?

Or if the headline was more along the lines of "ET and the AWB have been constantly advocating for the slaying of all corrupt black politicians and now Julius Malema murdered!"
  2. and I had a guy in a Jeep doing exactly the same thing on the3 steep side of ou kaapse too. Could see the colour of his eyes.

Also yesterday I had a guy on a motorbike come past me doing at least 150kmh

In fact I have about 20 similiar experiences every day.

I guess the difference is that if the cyclist goes down he will hurt himself and only himself. If the **** in the jeep gets it wrong he takes me over the edge with him.

"Again - irresponsible actions and reckless driving needs to be accounted for" ????? I really don't understand why you feel that you need to single out the cyclists?

Assumption of smart recording is incorrect.  It is on 1sec mode.

The lap durations are incorrect if a stoppage occurs during the lap.

This results in avg power' date=' speed, candence all being a mess resulting in any calcs after that being an even bigger mess.

    Btw, I'm also using WKO+.
[/quote']what version are you using - still 1.3? If you think that it is not addressed in the developers build then post a bug report and supply the offending file. As I say they are really responsive

  4. and while I am loading screenshots here is one which I think makes this software the best. It shows, not very well, how much flexibility you have to configure and view a combination of metrics that are important to you. Many graphs are pre-configured but you can also set up your own views. For example you might want to watch the relationship over time between anaerobic power, cadence and max speed for sprinting training  ... maybe

Ive downloaded this software the other day and am busy comparing it to my WKO+ 3.0 and so far its ok' date=' I still prefer my WKO+ but thats maybe cause I know the system and how to use it correctly and am still learning the Cheetah software.

What I cant seem to figure out is how I see my intervals on this software?

    [/quote'] Colonel, see example below.

I cannot seem to find anyone who has a headset for the Specialized Tarmac 2007 model in Cape Town. I'd prefer the whole shebang - spacers, rings and seals rather than just the bearings but if I can only get the bearings I'd live with that.

The headset is an FSA product but Specialized called it the "Mindset" if I am not mistaken. It is this one http://www.google.co.za/url?sa=t&source=web&ct=res&cd=1&ved=0CAsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcdn.specialized.com%2FOA_MEDIA%2Fpdf%2Fmanuals%2F07_Tarmac_SL_Roubaix_Ruby_Frame_Instructions.pdf&rct=j&q=%22Specialized+Tarmac+2007+headset%22&ei=neqtS7KsHaGwNJW1hbUO&usg=AFQjCNERphQXtRweQj57nJIFxYjrOH05SQ

  7.

Colonel, I guess that you are using V1.3?

If so you should move on to the Developer build it has MUCH more functionality and does everything that WKO does and more. I think that I listed a link in the other thread on GoldenCheetah. Once you et used to it you won't go back. I have nothing against WKO except that I could only run it on windows but GC is now by far my favourite. It does take a bit of getting used too.

The intervals show as vertical lines and are numbered. You can also select them from the left screen - they should be listed in the bottom pane.

The latest windows version is here

why dont you just meet up with you local club and go for real rides?

Well we do that too but some of us work. During the winter monthswe leave for work in the dark and we get home in the dark. The trainer becomes a neccesity if we want to keep fit. The problem is that the trainer is a mental challenge at the best of times.

This at least would add some motivation / interest.

  9. For those users with GPS, it now also has support for Google maps. It overlays the ride on Google earth but presents the data by power. You can see what power your were outputing at any point of the ride. I  believe that a Google Earth capability is also on the way

  10.

cyclist with bad attitude = motorist with bad attitude = pedestrian with bad attitude = jogger with bad attitude = motorcyclist with bad attitude

What is the common factor?? Why do we always single out the cyclists?

A couple of years ago I was late in getting home from a training ride and it was getting dark quickly. The roads were quite empty and I slowed but never stopped at a red traffic light near to the one which running man mentions. No other cars, no other motor cycles no-one inconvenienced at all.

But there was a jogger running in the opposite direction on the road (not the sidewalk) who also carried on through the same red traffic light. I was in the middle of the road as my right hand turn off was less than 50m past the traffic light. There was no question of us colliding.

The next thing I hear is the jogger hurling abuse at me because I cycled thru the red light without stopping. It didn't dawn on him that not only was he running against the flow of traffic but he also "jumped" the same red light. He was "jaywalking". What did he feel gave him the right to hurl abuse at me?

Neither of us inconvenienced anyone else, but he seemed to think that he could abuse me because I was on a bicycle???? Weird ... weird.

The reason we all gripe about cyclists is that they are deemed to inconvenience the rest of "us".

    Another story ...

I invited my boss out for the Argus. Along with him came a few more international visitors from the USA, Holland, UAE and France (not to forget oiltrash from good ol' Nigeria). We went on a ride from the CBD to the top of Chappies on the Saturday.  They are all senior, responsible people and behaved as they would on the roads where they come from.

I was seriously embarrased by my fellow Capetonians. The number of hoots that we got from impatient pricks whose time was more important than anyone else on the road was really something to behold.

The feedback: The Argus was great despite the wind but South African road users needs lessons in civility. It was really interesting to listen to the stories about the norms that are enforced in California with respect to cyclists. Cyclists get fined for speeding and motorists get locked up for 3 years for "buzzing". Safe passing distance of 1.5m minimum is enforced - no exceptions.

I guess it really is just a matter of the level of civilisation.

    edit: forgot the UAE

  11.

(And the reason why I know he is a prick' date=' is when I see that sour-face pic of him at TDF ... what a sore looser)

[/quote']Today he made a few clear statements along the following lines:

    1) Some coaches say "if we had another minute, another hour another year

..." I say when the game is over the game is over and the scoreboard

    tells the story.

    2) Contador is the strongest cyclist in the world today. He is the strongest climber and he is one of the best time trialists. When your are the best at those two disciplines then you are the best!

    3) Contador was the best rider in the tour - simple as that, no excuses.

    4) The two guys in 1st & 2nd place were better than me.

    5) "winning is fun, losing is not so much fun"

I really think that people make more of that picture than there really was. "Losing is not so much fun". That's all there is to it!

He gives Contador the credit that he is due but he doesn't like losing - what is wrong with that?

  12.

    stop jumping to conclusions:

i received about 5 photos yesterday of this vehicle being inspected by bank staff - it is a repossession. its amazing how quickly this was distributed to the outside world. there was no explanation in the email why a garden hose was wrapped around the wheel other than to show us what the staff in that area had to put up with wrt to repo's. btw the vehicle would have been loaded onto a flatbed and not driven in.

Well I don't think that the garden hose was wrapped around the wheel for safekeeping. And what are the lines on the tar.. chalk marks?

  13.

Call me 'glass half full'....but you have to admire the dedication to getting to work. Without the work' date=' where else is he gonna get the money to pay for tyres? [/quote']

    I'm with you GO

I see desperation (Make ANY kind of plan to complete the goal), determination and poverty. Which of those three are crimes?

So instead of judging this person and shout for criminal actions, why not treat this person with the same compassion and enthusiasm as what Henry is being treated with, who is  being flooded with cycling equipment / clothing and race entries?
Bullsh*t! this is extremely dangerous and there is nothing commendable about it. What is getting into us South Africans? Our standards drop almost by the day.

59min ' date=',,,,,,,,,,,im almost dead afetr 3min on high, ill try go as long as i can on a medium to high resistance tomorrow, should i only ride once a day or will 2, 1 hour seasions also help one early morning and the next after my shift or try do a full 2 hours at once, and can i train everyday till i get home on my real bike, when should be my last ride before the 14th.

sorry for all the questions like i said been doing this for 3 months only.
[/quote']AA just ride as hard and steady as you can for an hour every other day. If you can do 2 of these sessions in one day then you are not doing them right.. You should take the alternate days easy to let your body recover.

When you start the session you will be inclined to go too hard and fade long before the end so it will take some time to get the pace right. It will probably be a medium to low resistance if your comment about 3 min is anything to go by.
