If I recall the last climb over the "rock" has the words "SORRY" or "YAMMER" painted on. I remember last year the 8 km section next to the river (up and down and up and down)was fun for the first few kays then got extremely tiring. Doing it agin this year.

one could have a mechanical interlock on the solenoid as a safety feature , something like a handgrenade pin that you pull out that make system "live' so its safe until then.

I googled some remotes and receivers and the receiver is is about the size of 2 Penlights , the CO2 Bomb is what we use to inflate our tyres and the solenoid is still "ungoogled" But it remains just a fun Idea and not feaseable - I could just see the lawsuites ......

I used Candy (Egg beaters) for a while but I ride a lot and the maintenance eventually just cost too much - Bearings and seals every couple of months. I went over to Shimano XTR SPD's and have had no trouble or costs for at least a year and there is still no bearing play - so my advice is if you ride often stick to the SPD.
