  1. Hi Reggie My brother in law built one up a while ago and was trying to sell it. Had it on bike hub a while. I'm not sure if he did sell it, but I've sent him a message saying you're looking for one.
  2. Try some of the UK excess baggage companies. Most of them have a calculator where you input box dimensions and weight and it gives an estimate.
  3. The first pedal you linked to seems like the sort of thing you would use if you rode clipless and occasionally wanted to ride to the shops in your trainers, the platform is pretty small at 80mm x 85mm, not sure what size your feet are, but I wouldn't be able to ride in flat shoes on those. The second pedal has a much larger platform so probably better for flats. My personal view, never having used dual sided pedals, is they're more hassle than they're worth. I foresee great difficulty trying to clip in and having to spin the pedal to find the correct side, I'd rather go for a clipless pedal with a platform. Or just ride flats.
  4. Taking place in Hermanus tomorrow Sunday 10 October. Good luck to all the riders taking part. If you’re in the area come and watch, I was down at the track this morning watching the national cup series and there’s some good racing. Time Table of Events - SA CupSA Champs.pdf
  5. I have a Lyne 27.2 dropper if you're interested. It was used for around 2 years and has been in a box for the last two, pretty sure it works fine. If you're interested I'll get it out and check. I'm at the opposite end of the county to you though, and don't have enough posts to sell to certain members, but I'm happy to take it to a bike shop to be checked out.
  6. It's a Jack Russel, they're clever that way I assume it wasn't designed for dogs. I think if you call it the call is automatically answered so you can talk to the dog and calm it down??? Don't know to much about it you'd have to investigate, just know it's small you can communicate in two directions and it tracks you.
  7. A friend of mine bought a tracker for her dog which is about the size of a garage remote. It uses a micro sim card and has gps tracking, there is an sos button which will make a call to a pre specified number and it can also receive calls from that number. The device uses an app call Aibeile, which can be used on any device that has a sim card, for tracking. The device is a K9 Ultimate Plus tracker which she got from Streetwise Pets, they're based in Balito but have an online shop.
  8. I doubt he was trying to rob him, not at that intersection, it's far to busy. Probably just upset at him jumping the stop
  9. Have you tried Royal can get them from shreddtech.co.za Their stock is rather limited, but prices are good and the shorts comfy. They don't have a chamois, but you can just wear a bib under.
  10. I wonder if you can then request that they use DHL rather than SkyNet, either with a note on the purchase order or via email.
  11. DHL outdid Skynet on all these points so why the change
  12. Rockshox TK30 Gold is an air fork. I have one on my hardtail which I mostly ride Hemel en Aarde with. For a newbie it's fine.
  13. I was on earlier but can't get on now. Probably everyone live streaming
  14. I have no problem with an unmodified pedal assist e-MTB. As Hairy pointed out above, however, these things can be modified and then become more like a motorcycle which I would definitely have a problem with on the trails. I wouldn't be caught dead on one currently, but in 30 years time when my legs can't get me up the mountain and I still have a craving for riding down one as fast as possible, I would consider one. Or a helicopter.
  15. Like day 1 of the Stanford Tour, except 3 times longer
  16. Had exactly the same problem, was the rear derailleur. Lots of vids on the web on how to correct the alignment of your derailleur
  17. Hi Ann If you are going to ride from Hermanus to Gansbaai be very careful. There is no hard shoulder on the road for most of that route and cars usually drive well above the 100km/h speed limit. Make sure to wear something that makes you easily visible. There are some taxi companies based in Hermanus which may be able to help with a lift back to Hermanus from Gansbaai. http://www.hermanustaxi.com/ http://www.bernardustransfershermanus.co.za/ If you don't come right with them pm me I live in Hermanus and may be able to help, but won't be sure until nearer the end of the week. Have and awesome ride.
  18. I often get the feeling when reading these cyclist vs motorist threads that a lot of us want to have our cake and eat it. A few weeks ago I was driving through Stellenbosch on my way to Welvenpas. I don't know the name of the road but it's the one that comes from Somerset West and takes you along the edge of town, two lanes each direction. It's pretty narrow and not really wide enough to give a cyclist room if two cars are next to each other when passing. A group of cyclist's were riding along when a bakkie squeezed past and did not give much room, understandably there was a lot of fist shaking and I'm sure a few choice comments as well. Not far up the road is an intersection and traffic light where the road becomes three lanes, the right lane for turning right, middle for straight and left for straight or left turn. I was in the middle lane waiting for the lights to change from red when this group of cyclist's came whizzing past between me and the cars in the left lane, jumped the light as it was changing and cut across the car at the front to turn left. The light changed to green before the entire group had gone past and the car in that lane had been wanting to go straight. To me this is completely unacceptable, what if the light had changed just before the group got to the front and the car had started to drive off and hit one of the cyclist's, we would all be sitting on the hub later that day complaining of another ignorant motorist hitting a cyclist. If we want to be respected on the road we need to respect the rules of the road. Yes there will always be motorist who couldn't care less as there will always be cyclist's who break every rule, but cry foul when not given space by a motorist, but change has to start somewhere and usually with someone getting off their high horse and taking the first step. Every week there is one of these threads and the same stuff gets said everytime and it ends up at the same conclusion - we won't back down until motorist respect us. In ten years time we will still be posting the same comments in one of these threads because no one is willing to take the first step. Before I get flamed, I don't live in a city and only have to ride the 3km to the trails on the road, so although I grasp the concept of bad city driving I don't feel the understandable anger a lot of you do from almost being killed on a daily basis but ranting about motorists on a cycling website seems like a bit of a waste of time to me. It would be better posting to the city officials twitter accounts.
