  2. Hiya all! Cool...thanks for all the input. Gonna grab the magazine and take a look. Unfortuntaley CycleLab are out of stock of the Trek 3700. But gonna read the article first and try mak an informed decision...will then look at other bicycle shops for a MTB then. My wife and I are already thinking about doing the Subaru MTB race next year (the 3 day one - saw it on Supersport....dont know much about it but looks amazing!!!!) CrazyFig2008-05-06 00:54:41
  3. Excellent. Ok, ja...gonna take it easy the first time. Am thinking the Emmarentia / Delta Park / Just before Conrad drive section. This will be great, will start a new thread as soon as I know for def we riding, hopefully we can get a nice group together with some other noobs like us, and some more experienced riders not minding to show us the ins and outs??! LOL!
  4. Sweet, thanks. FYI...when we do get out there....my wife tends to take things very slowly. Bit nervous on a bike...so ja, when we do go...hope you guys have got some patience
  5. LOL! Ok...thanks for the help everyone. Hopefully I will have my bike by the weekend and my wife's not working.
  6. Hmmm....from that reply...I think it might not be so user friendly
  7. LOL! Thanks for the file...dont have a garmin...but have no problem getting hold of one. My mother in law doesnt like her Nuvi 300. Think I should make an offer
  8. Thanks for the info. Sitting on Google at the moment trying to get more info. I heard CycleLab has a map of the trail...but cant confirm this yet. Also heard there was a website on this trail...but cant find it yet either. Grrr... Not yet sure if we going this weekend. Will have to check if my wife is working or not....and still need to pick up a MTB. Thanks for the offer! Do you ride that route often? Are there any clubs that ride there on weekends? EDIT: Found this website...buts its for hiking though http://www.footprint.co.za/Braamfontein.htm Another informative site: http://www.mtbroutes.co.za/route.php?route_id=129CrazyFig2008-05-05 04:06:20
  9. Hi all, My parents live in Craighall in Jhb and have a place on the spruit (Just before the Conrad Drive bridge). We see sooooo many MTB riders on this trail on weekends. Have heard it runs very far and is an awesome ride. Does anyone have a map or a website url with info on this? My wife and I are very keen to get out there!! Thanks CF
  10. Ok, so did some research myself. Didnt want to wait around. From what I have read...the cheaper models of Mongoose, their frames are not that strong. Saw some reports of cracks etc. So Mongoose for me is out. Didnt look at Avalanche. Looked at the Trek and saw 2 reviews. They say its a good bike for the road and trails which is what Im looking for (trails). Its also a comfy bike to ride and is sturdy. So Im sold. Im going for the Trek 3700....and will be going to CycleLab to purchase it. Better to deal with the pros! Think its R2500 at CycleLab Waiting for a reply
  11. Hi, Well Im in the same boat as jyzelle. Im not looking at any serious riding, just for fun on the trails that run through emmarentia and delta park. Im sure most of you guys know which trail it is, think it runs along the Braamfontien spruit. Anyways...Im looking at the same bikes. Leaning towards the Mongoose at this piont, unless someone can tell me if the Trek 3700 is a better buy? Dont really want to go higher than R2500...so ja, looking at these. PS: Sorry for the semi hijack
  12. In Cresta...have heard about Cresta Wheelers...anyone here part of the club?
  13. Thats part of the problem. In all honesty....time is an issue...and when I have time, Im so nervous that Im gonna get side lined by a car...or robbed of it. Maybe joining a club and doing club rides is a better solution....but then it doesnt solve the problem of what to do when I just wann hop on and ride... What to do what to do?
  14. Sweet! They just up the raod too, thanks...
