  1. Good day all, I need some advice please. I cracked my 2012 Silverback Vida 1 Frame. Silverback told me they can replace it with the new 2013 Vida 1 frame, but I am not so sure that I want to go that way. The reason is because if you compare the 2012 Vida 1 to the 2013 Vida 1, the 2012 model is specked much higher than the 2013 model. There is also about a R4000 price difference. It seems that they are now focusing more on the carbon models! So in my opinion I think they spend much more time on the frame design for the Vida 1 in 2012. Weight: 2012: 11.4KG with XT and FOX front suspension, non-tapered 2013: 11.3KG with SLX/DEORE and ROCK SHOX REBA, Tapered The FOX is more than 200 Gram heavier than the REBA They will also give me an adapter to convert the non tapered FOX suspension to fit into the tapered frame of the 2013 model, which in my opinion is not natural. Now, take into consideration the resale value. Will I be better off with the 2012 or 2013 frame?
  2. I would like to know how much pressure you guys run your forks and/or shocks given your weight and amount of travel. I always seem to find the pressures given on forks very hard, I like a very plush ride in the front and could use some good advice on how to set up a rockshox sid/monarch rt3 properly, any tips for a more plush fork with good small bump damping? Setup: Fork: +95psi, -100psi Shock: 200psi Weight: 160lbs/75kg Travel 100mm front and rear

  6. Hey guys. I have a Scott Scale 29 team and want to upgrade my Rockshox Tora. I have been looking at the DT Swiss XMM 100mm single shot. I dont know too much about these shocks as I was more accustomed to riding Downhill(4 years ago). What are your thoughts on this fork.
  7. Hi Guys After washing my bike, I noticed the cable that stiffens the front shock was frayed, so I removed the clamp that operates the stiffness on the shock to refit the cable. Then I noticed that the clamp was cracked about halfway. Now its completely broken. See attached pic. Is this an off the shelf item?
  8. How do you soften the coil on a manitou sherman breakout plus fork? I know you can get a new softer coil, but cant seem to find one. What other coils would fit in a manitou 170mm travel? A fox or rock shox DH fork?
  9. LOCATION - STELLENBOSCH - Not Eastern Cape Hi all, I have recently begun my single speed conversion and unfortunately things have come up and I will no longer be able to continue. Moving overseas! So I'm wanting to swap what I have for beer(cases) so that I can have a bit of a fairwell with some mates from varsity. It was a black and redd Scott Scale 70 and I've literally JUST begun taking it apart. It was however not in great condition. What is included: Scott frame - Stripped - small dent in top tube but still good to go!!!! Rockshox dart fork - Stripped XT RD - Working order Deore FD - Working order Deore Shifters - Working order Avid V brakes - Working order with new pads - levers look ugly Shimano crank - Smallest ring broke loose 8 spd Casette - Nothing to say here Stem, handle bars, Wheelset with slicks ( well used but not buckled) Seatpost Seat Clamp WTB Saddle - Off my GT Expert Chain Also willing to swap for just about anything..... I will be home on Wednesday so whoever makes me the most attractive offer by then can take the bike and continue working. PM me and i'll try arrange pics
  10. most 4-6" bikes are going to have a shorter TT than a hardtail but seems most almost buy a bigger size in order to run a short stem.... so basically how much shorter do you run your trail/am bike compared to a HT set up......or do you try match it up but with a longer frame to accommodate the shorter stem? last time I had a 5" bike was 10yrs ago......way out of touch.....who remembers Rock Shox Psylo's?
  11. RockShox Sid XX 26" Tapered Fork now Clearing for a Crazy R 2999.00 (Please note this fork comes off a new bike and the steerer length is 22cm)
  12. Dont have the current specs of my bike, but its a Specialized Big Hit. I'm planning to upgrade a number of things on it sometime, including the paint job This is my plan, tell me what you think: From this: http://www.jacksbikes.com/contents/media/specialized%20big%20hit%20fsr%201%202008.jpg To something like this: Did it in photoshop, as you can see I'm quite a fan of the new Demo finishes So I plan to get new forks, rear suspension, bars, and brakes on my Big Hit.

    Upgrading

I am investigating the posibility of either upgrading my current setup or purchasing a new bike. I have recently over the past year become very comfortable with my Specialized Camber Comp and would prefer to keep the bike but make some upgrades. I was hoping to gather some feedback, opinions and advice from the forum as to what should be upgraded and what it should be upgraded to. I am a big AM rider and like to keep it that way with the upgrading of my bike. 14. So we get a lot of newbies (and more experienced Hubbers) asking what's the best bike for a particular price range? Now I know that it's fact that red bikes are fastest but in terms of spec, what is the best purchase for different price brackets. Do you think there will be value in creating a thread for recommendations in different categories, make some recommendations for the following price ranges: R3500 - R5000 R5000 - R8500 R8500 - R12 5000 Axis A10 29er - R11 799 R12 500 - R15 500 Titan 29R Pro, Full XT Groupset, Rockshox Reba fork. R14 400. Momsen AL529: R13 995 R15 500 - R20 000 R20 000 - R25 000 Commencal Meta AM 3 - R26 500ish (www.buycycle.co.za) R25 000 - R35 000 R35 000+ I know this could get very subjective but maybe we can get a shortlist for each category. Make you recommendations Hubbers!
