Entries open 15th of June 2018 The Swartberg100, in true South African tradition, will be one of the toughest Gran Fondo's in the world. We have created a course that goes back to the days of old when mountain passes were all gravel and brave cyclists climbed them on single speed bikes weighing in at 16 kg. A course that allows us to pit our modern training knowledge and technology against an old foe, a road surface that isn't always friendly.​ Choose your weapon carefully for this race, too much rubber could slow you down, too little could make the gravel sectors a lot tougher.   5. I recently heard about Buffelsdrift Trail Park from a mate out in Pretoria. Apparently it’s an incredible trail. The combined distance for all the trails clocks in at 109Km Has anyone here done a Gran Fondo at Buffelsdrift? Is is doable for someone with an average speed of 15km/h?

  7. Howdie Hubbers Is there anyone who has done a complete 130km Gran Fondo MTB ride in the Johannesburg area? We have a couple guys that are really keen to get this badge on their belt and are looking for a solid 130km ride with minimal tar under the tyres. If any of you have done this successfully, could you please post you rides from either Strava or GPS files. Thanks D
