  1. I have been riding 1x10 on my MTB for a year now and it is working out great for me. I have a 11-36t at the back and a 32t NW on the standard Acera crank that came with the bike. So far it has seend 6000+ km of bliss This weekend I did a ride on my road bike and was wondering if I can make it a 1x setup like on my MTB? My roadie has a 12-23t at the back and 30/42/52 FSA triple at the front. After some messing around in Excel I found my current 3x8 setup covers ratios from 1.3 (23t/30t) to 4.3 (12t/52t). If I put a 10 speed 11-36t MTB cassette at the back and a 48t NW at the front I cover that perfectly however that would mean new chain, derailleur and shifter. Sticking with 8 speed and opting for HG41 11-34t at the back gives me 1.4 (34t/48t) to 4.3 (11t/48t) and all I need a the MTB cassette and a 48t NW chain ring. My two questions are : 1) has anyone done this and is it a good idea? 2) where can I get a 48t BCD 130 narrow wide chain ring in SA?
  2. The simplicity of a one-by chain ring setup has always appealed to me. Less cockpit clutter, no chain suck and, for the weight-weenie in me, some grams lost. When the Kitted Wonder Ring arrived for testing I decided to take the plunge and convert my own steed to 1x10. Click here to view the article
  3. Good day Hubbers, We would just like to let you know that we are currently fighting a legal battle against the people that assisted us in manufacturing our chainrings. They have gone behind our back and started selling our chainrings with their name on it, it is the exact same design, tooth profile, engraving, anodising ect. We had no beef with them up until last week when they decided to up our manufacturing costs by more than double, we now understand why!!! ACC Billet Engineering (Pro Billet) decided to take it upon themselves to use our designs that we have paid for and worked on for the past year and go ahead and make some for themselves. We discovered this on the weekend when we walked into one of our clients shops and saw this "NEW" locally manufactured chainring on a bike. After closer inspection we could notice that this was our chainring, we spoke to the shop owner and he gave us the invoice he was presented with and we saw all the details of the company that we are using. We are not sure how many stores they have approached and sold "their" chainrings to but if you do get approached by "ANGIE" please do not buy anything from her/them. We have put time and money into our business and the fact that they do not have any business ethics and take other company property for them selves means we will not take this sitting down. Please guys if you know of anyone else who has one of these chainrings, please let us know ASAP> I have attached some photos of the chainring we found and one of ours so you can see the resemblance. Thanks The KITTED Team
  4. So the hype is big on the 1 x whatever drive train bandwagon....... I have been running a 1 x 9 for a little while and it has it's pro's and con's, the more dedicated drive trains with a narrow wide ring, clutch der and cassette with moerse big cogs certainly does have an appeal and makes sense ..............but ........... A chain ring does not last long, more so on a 1 x set up as you are only using the single ring vs sharing the wear on a dual or triple chainring crankset. Narrow wide chainrings are also not exactly a cheap purchase. So then, why not get a S/steel SS specific chainring for around the R350 mark and run the 1 x set up with the biggest moerse gear range cassette that works for you and then use a chain guide with a clutch der? Just thinking from an economics stand point here. Edit: Font size amended
