  1. Hi Expats or Locals living in Amsterdam, I will be moving to the Netherlands (Amsterdam) soon. I will be a complete noob when cycling/ training/racing (entering events, not pro) in Amsterdam. I will bring my race bike over and buy a single speed commuter once I'm there. Or should I buy a steel single speed here and take it over? So many questions to ask! Will also be looking for group rides once there! Any advice from experienced expats in this regard would be golden. Thanks! Timeline 2 months and counting!
  2. I've moved to the Netherlands and have just started riding my MTB on a daily commute; these road surfaces (slick clay-type paving bricks) are a nightmare to ride on with MTB knobblies, and 10x worse in the wet (most days then) Can't seem to find any suitable guidance on what to replace them with, any advice Hubbers?
  3. Hi there, will a 29er equipped with regular MTB rubber and a 32T 11/50T set up be OK for riding/commuting in the NL? Commuting, social riding, etc.....or is it advisable to replace the 32T with a 34T and fit hybrid rubber....or shelve the bike and get a commuter? TYIA
  4. Hi I am moving to Netherlands in a month and busy getting things ready for the plane. I will be taking a box like this. http://2share.co.za/Files/s1600_IMG_5239MOD.jpg Am i allowed to put extra items (Floor pump, Bike tools , kit, etc) in the box ? Anything else i should know when packing my 29r in the box ?
  5. So I will be going to Europe, more particularly to Belgium and some of the surrounding areas and I got a brain wave. I would like to benefit from the 2 x 35kg baggage allowance I have with Emirates and perhaps have some more funds for travelling. So, if you are looking to import some stuff, can be bike related or whatever, then I am willing to go pick it up at a shop or have it sent to an address in Belgium where I will be staying, for a fee..and I will then bring it back to South Africa (Cape Town) on the 1st of August. * Attached are some ideas. Remember that you can also perhaps get a tax return on some items (21%) * *FYI: http://www.sars.gov.za/ClientSegments/Customs-Excise/Processing/Assessment/Pages/Duties.aspx
