  5. Stellenbosch local Bernette Beyers is on the road to recovery after a crash left her with a broken collarbone at the Glasgow World Cup in Great Britain earlier this month. She continues to stay at the World Cycling Centre (WCC) in AIgle, Switzerland, where she has been training during the 2016 season. Click here to view the article
  6. Cycling South Africa’s Track Commission is pleased to announce an upcoming action-packed weekend of racing at the Bellville Velodrome from Friday 16 to Sunday 18 December 2016.   7. The 2016 UCI Track Cycling World Masters Championships will be taking place this year at the Manchester Velodrome, Great Britain, from 1-8 October. Track enthusiasts that will be going over to represent South Africa are looking forward to their trip next week, and hope to return with promising results. Some of these riders are first-timers to a World Championship, and some, such as World Champion Ilna Lemmer, return to battle it out with some of the best in the world once again.   8. Rounds one and two of the South African Track Grand Prix and National Series take place in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, at the Cyril Geoghegan Cycle Track from 7-9 August 2016.   9. Current South African National Champion in the Sprint, Keirin, 500m and Team Sprint, Bernette Beyers is blossoming in Europe and pushing herself to become as great as she can be. Cycling South Africa is proud to present the South African Track Grand Prix and National Series, with rounds one and two taking place in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, at the Cyril Geoghegan Cycle Track from 7-9 August 2016. The event is classified as a UCI CL 2 event, drawing attention not just from South Africa, but other African countries as well in a bid to afford our track cyclists the opportunity to earn valuable UCI points at a local event. Nolan Hoffman (Team Telkom) and Charlene du Preez (Clover) emerged as the Elite National Champions when the 2016 South African Omnium Championships culminated at the Westbourne Oval on Sunday 3 April. It was the young riders that rode with extra fervour and a few National Records tumbled on the second day of the 2016 South African Track and Para-cycling Championships at the Westbourne Oval in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday 29 April, with Mia Fortuin (U12G), Eathan Kulsen (U12B) and Chante Olivier (U14G) all smashing 1500m Individual Pursuit records. While Track cyclists are planning for the upcoming 2016 SA National Track, Para-cycling and Omnium Championships take place at the Westbourne Cycling Track in Port Elizabeth from 28 March to 3 April, South African Para-cyclists Roxy Burns (C3), Dane Wilson (C5) and Juan Odendaal (C3) are gearing up for a bigger event on the global cycling calendar. The upcoming 2016 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships, which takes place at the Fassa Bortolo Veledrom in Montichiari, Italy from 17-18 March, will offer them the greatest preparation for their National Champs race this season.
