  1. Hi dudes and dudettes! I thought it might be an interesting exercise to do a little hub study related to heart rates. It probably won’t be very scientific, but perhaps we can learn something about us hubbers, statistics and analysis (and yes, I know it’s Friday!) It would be great to get as many people’s data as possible to push up that sample size and make it better (or in special lingo - more statistically significant). All that is required is that you have a relatively good handle on your maximum heart rate (and please, don’t use any formula, because we’ll actually test at the end if a formula makes sense!) We need the following data and you have the following options to reply: reply to this thread, send me a dm, or complete this google sheet https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1G6picoJYkyTEgZkH72viLEx74aCuuYq5B6PBx_nH8Lc/edit?usp=sharing 1. name (hub name, real name, anonymous; it’s not important) 2. resting heart rate 3. maximum heart rate 4. age 5. star sign (fun factor to test whether there’s any correlation between star signs and max. hr) 6. sex (you have winky = male; you have a margaret = female; please no others 7. hub posts (another fun factor – we can test hypothesis whether higher posts equal higher max. hr Thanks everyone! I’ll bump from time to time to get more samples. And in the end we’ll try to answer Austin in terms of what it all means!
  2. Hi Hubbers, I have recently seen that WKO4 has been released for desktops. Has anyone had an experience with it and would you suggest the software? I enjoy the numbers side of cycling and feel that this tool may be able to add further analysis which I can do personally. I am just not convinced that at a price tag of R2 700 (?) is worth it. I do currently have access to TrainingPeaks, but am struggling to see the value add that WKO4 would add over and above this already powerful tool. Also, on a side note, it would be great if you have some graphs/analysis which you have setup in TrainingPeaks. I have created one or two overlap charts which monitor current form and performance. Thanks!
  3. I have a Polar and a Bryton GPS training device. I am wondering what other peoples experience is with the different types of training support software, not so much the devices themselves. I am fairly disappointed in the Bryton web based analysis tools. Editing of the training is pretty much non existent, the mobile device interface is frustrating and half the buttons/links do not work properly. Cant download my training via my Samsung at the moment due to software issues. I am informed that an updated web site is coming, but not sure when. Hopefully this will allow me to customise the elevation of the rides i do, as it is silly having a training ride on the Highveld with a base elevation set at sea level. I can not even see where the climbs are on my training ride. The Polar software is quite a bit more user friendly, as well as being based on my PC which is nice. Not all info recorded is available to trend either which can be frustrating. Garmin, no info yet. Feedback, abuse, support, etc etc welcome.
