  1. Hi Guys, Does anyone know whom buys carbon bicycle frames and parts that are cracked or damaged to repair? I have two frames, some saddles with cracked rails and a 29er rim that I'd like to sell and have minor cracks but could be fixed and used by someone. Just food for thought. Cheers, Matt
  2. Dear Hubbers, After being relieved from my bike on Sunday - Argon 18 post in Stolen Bike Section - I am in the market for a new bike. And I know where to come for advise. So although October is a good time to buy outgoing 2017 models, trying to find a Medium frame is stock is proving difficult, and the 2018 stock is yet to arrive. 1st Question - Everyone always says "Ride AND Test". But with LBSse carrying almost no road bike stock these days, and the Medium Frame availability being limited, how do I actually go about doing this. Is there LBsse in the Western Cape better at providing for demoes? 2nd Question - The accountant in me freaks out about these things, so as I am not well versed in the intricacies of the used market and want to know the following: I know I can buy so much more Merida (Scultera) than Specialized (Tarmac), but which one will hold up best in the used market (I know both will loose allot, but opinions please). Throw in Scott, Trek, Giant in the opinion please. OR should I even care as I am going to loose a bunch anyway??? 3rd Question - Just to get people going. Which Bike will you consider @ R25,000 for Shimano 105 @ R45,000 for Shimano Ultegra. Disc or Non-Disc Thanks Guys/Girls. Trying to get this thing done before One Tonner
  3. How do I know which bike to buy? I have recently started cycling as a new hobby and I have already owned and got rid of 2 bikes in one month. I bought my first bike same day I joined bikehub.co.za. My first one was Merida big 7 TFS 100, it didn't feel comfortable so I swapped for Momsen AL129 which I later sold. I'm 1.68m tall, weigh 70kg. What are the steps I should know when I buy a mountain bike? I'm short but I don't want a 26" mountain bike. My budget is R5000
  4. I have a Giant Revel 29er amd I am thinking of buying a second hand Giant Reign 3 26er. I am really getting into jumps and more technical stuff. Would you advice going for that or not? Keep in mind I am on a tight budget otherwise I would just go and buy a new 29er dual suspension.
  5. Hi Guys I'm looking at starting out in the MTB sport. However, I do not want to spend too much on my first bike, as I am not sure if I'm going to like it or take it too seriously with events. My budger for a bike is AT MOST R6k. I don't really want to buy a second-hand cycle. I Googled a bit, and found several bikes within my budget: AXIS A60AXIS A40SILVERBACK STRIDE 10SILVERBACK SPECTRA SPORTTITAN 650B SPORTTITAN CRUZTREK 4700 DISCMOMSEN AL029RAPID PEAK 650B ALLOYRAPID PEAK PRO I'm sure there are other bikes in that range... I went to a local cycle shop, but they kept trying to sell me R10k+ cycles, and I don't like being forced into buying something outside my budget. Also, my wife wants to join me on social rides, but not events, so I am looking at a bike for her as well, but something basic that would not fall apart after 10km. Please could you advise which brands there are and what would be the best buy within my budged. I am 1.85m, and my wife 1.68, I know that will determine the size of the cycles.
  6. Hey Hubbers, I'm a prospective MTBer looking to make my first purchase. I've done a fair amount of reading on this forum so I'm slowly getting an idea of things. I don't want to get a complete entry-level bike that I'm going to have to upgrade soon. I'll also be doing most of my riding in Dullstroom - very rocky and rather hilly. So it's gotta be able to withstand the conditions (as does my soft behind). A mixture of cross country and (rocky) trail. I'm about 1.84/1.85m - so probably a Large frame? 650b or 29er? (personal preference I guess) I'm looking at a max budget of about 10k (MAYBE a little more, depending on how much I spend on a car) (I know all the rest of the gear adds up too) Been to two shops so far and had the following suggestions in that price range: GT Zaskar 9R Sport http://www.gtbicycles.co.za/2014%20GT%20Bicycles%20Zaskar%209R%20Sport.html Silverback Sola 3 http://www.silverbacklab.com/bike/mountain/silverback-sola-3/ It doesn't have to be new, I don't mind buying second-hand. I have had a look at the classifieds. But then I'd need some advice on what to look out for in terms of components etc. Thanks so much everyone, Grant
