  1. Hi guys, using a Polar V650 bike monitor. Today after 95km into a ride it went crazy and all of a sudden added an hour to the duration, as well as added 30km to the distance!! Saved the session and started a new one and figured I'd edit out the last minute and just join the GPX files. Now my monitor has synced both to iPhone, but only the second session to Flowsync. Has anybody experienced this? Is there any way to access the training files on a V650 without flowsync? Want to bliksem it into a million pieces!!
  2. I have a set of Crank Brothers Candy 1s, and the bearing on one of them has failed. This has happened a couple of times before and I’ve got rebuild kits and just replaced the inners. Frustrating, but no problem. This time, however, I can’t get the outer bearing race out of the plastic pedal body. I’m damaging the plastic threads trying to use a screwdriver and other things to pry it out. Any suggestions? Is it possible to push out the sleeve that the spring and wings sit on? If I can get this out then maybe I can find something the right diameter to knock out the bearing race from the inboard side. Are current Crank Brothers pedals still using this same basic internal design? It seems a bit ridiculous to me that that tiny little cartridge bearing is the only thing holding the pedal together, and when it fails (which, as I said, has happened several times to me) you have to ride home with the pedal sliding off the axle. I love the external design and wing system of my Candys (I have a set of 3s as well), but I’m seriously considering moving over to Shimano DX or similar. How does their bearing system compare? Is there at least something that’ll hold the pedal together if the bearings wear or fail? Are the cleats more hard-wearing than the Crank Brothers ones, which seem a little soft to me?
  3. I could go through all tyre manufacturers and list a high performance 26” product still in production from each but the short list below shows & proves that support is across the board. Tyre manufacturers are still committed to producing tyres for all available wheel sizes for every discipline, but I can’t see them continuing if the local distributers do not support the existing local market. So I ask you, who will kill the 26” wheel? Manufacturer, Product: - Continental, Trail King Full range - Maxxis, High Roller II Full range - Kenda, Nevegal X Pro Full range - Onza, Ibex Full range - Schwalbe, Magic Mary Full range - WTB, Vigilante Full range 26” rims are still in production and available locally from an extensive list of shops. You will still find high performance parts or wheel-sets being sold at competing size prices but you will be hard-pressed to find high performance rubber to wrap it. Why is there a disconnect between who rides and who imports and can something be done about import choices before it’s too late?
