Hello! I hope this is the right forum to be posting this in.

I'm looking to buy a Giant Rincon 2007 from this lady. It is in good condition. She is offering it to me for R2000.

Is this a reasonable price? I can't seem to find much online.

Thanks for the help.

welcome to the hub - pics will help. specs? (i.e. groupset, wheels, brakes, suspension?)

No actual photograph but all the components are stock standard. Nothing amazing here but I'm only looking for a beginners bike:

FORK Suntour XCM 80mm travel, lock out

SHIFTERS Shimano EZ Fire 24 speed

FRONT MECH Shimano C50

REAR MECH Shimano Alivio

BRAKES Tektro linear pull

BRAKE LEVER Shimano

CASSETTE Shimano HG30 11-32

CHAIN KMC Z7

CRANKS Shimano TX70 24/34/42

BOTTOM BRACKET RPM cartridge

HUBS Formula

TYRES Kenda 26x1.95''

My gut feel is that this should be around R1500.

The Stride is now R2350-odd.

Reno is 3285.00 after 10% discount - More than I thought :o But then it is a 2011 model and brand new.

I would say R1.5K for the Giant was a fair price

Hahaha! They shifted their range around a bit.

Mmmmmmmmm…depending on the condition, I'd try push a little lower. That is a four-year-old bike.

As tumbleweed said- its 4 years old, and by the looks of the specs, no upgrades either. I'd also say R1.5k and no more. If not, rather save up some cash for a new ride :)

As a matter of interest, how would a new bike with V brakes compare to a 4 year old bike with mechanical disks?

Just thinking of cheaper "new" options for sano

I think most people with mechanical discs will have upgraded by now or just given up!*

*See thread about dude with mechanical discs.

Thanks for the replies everyone - appreciate it.

Regarding the brakes, could I not upgrade to disc at a later stage if I get into it more?
