Alot a XC racers use 140mm discs on their back wheels. To do so you simply use a 160mm front IS to Post adapter. Now you can use on on the front aswell. Not that I can see why as you want better stopping power at the front. This was seen at NAHBS. A 203mm adapter turned upside down. What they did not say was if it was a front or rear adapter.

That looks like a road bike fork to me. Is it? If so, it would make sense to use a smaller disc.

 

Edit: Yes, it has to be. It is a cable actuated brake, provably wired to standard Shimano road shifters. Interesting.

Would make sense on a cross bike where the descents are short and not that steep/technical.

 

For MTB I actually think that the best option would be 185mm front and 140mm back.
