if you buy clothes off chain reaction, do they charge you duty on top of delivery charges and garment cost? 40% duty on clothes

Posted

CRC will charge the cost of the item & its delivery.

SA customs will charge 40% duty, then add just over 14% VAT to sum of (cost + duty).

SAPO will then add their R25 handling cost.

In all add about 50% to your chain reaction price to get a good idea of what it will cost in total (after vat, customs, duties)...

The person sending it from the UK must put a value on. (I suppose)

Suppose he does not have to add the invoice of the original purchase.

IGNORE: To many supposes........... sorry

Do they not require an invoice to be sent with?

If a mate is sending it then not at all, its a gift  They can send the invoice in the post later if you need it for warranties

Sending it to a friend to send as gift is unethical and illegal FYI.

Plus then you have to pay for shipping

Shipping cost wont be 40% the value of your goods !
