I know some of my fellow tri athletes drive out to a dam near Rustenburg somewhere to do training. Except for that do you guys know of any swimming pools where you can train, except for Virgin Active? Hillcrest - 50m heated...When I was a laaitie we used to paddle,swim, braai and play all day at the dam next to LC de Villiers. I accept it is small and you'll need to swim in circles a couple of times, but I suppose it can be done?
NE1L Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 (edited) I would not recommend the Dam in Pretoria if its the one I’m thinking about as I think there is a hippo and a couple of baby crocks that live there.Check out Victoria Lake.Rietvlei you might get away with it but if your swimming whilst people are trying to fish you will become very unpopular very fast. The best is head down to the Vaal Dam for a weekend there are some great yacht clubs and some lovely camp sight and plenty of lovely quiet roads to be found Oh and then there is Bass lake in Henley-on-Klip but you got to pay an entrance fee but again make a day of it.
