HI guys........ for give me for asking what may be a stupid qhestion. I was cleaning my bike yesterday and noticed what looked like half-broken teeth on both my SRAM x7 chainrings. So I go chainring hunting online. But all the SRAM/Truvativ chainrings I see have the same (what looks like) half broken teeth. So I realize that there are a few square shaped teeth on the chainrings "by design". Does anybody know why, and what the benifit is? Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks

Its for smooth shifting. THe short teath allow the chain to move across onto the chainring once the pins and long teath have picked it up!!!! if that makes any sense???
