geoffro Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Hi guys, hope this in the correct forum.I want to send my bicycle to JHB from PE.(I will be living there now).I have boxed it in a "bicycle box" (picked up a box from my LBS).I was thinking post office, cheap enough at 100 bucks.Anyone do this exercise lately and have any better advice for me?I will insure it.Thanks for any ideas or feedback!

Minion Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I've sent wheels via the Post Office and they arrived OK. I'd definitely make sure it's insured, though.
patches Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I had a bike sent up from PMB earlier this year, It was in 2 bike boxes (one for wheels, one for everything else). It was about R350 for door-to-door overnight courier with Time Freight. It was also insured. So as great as R100 sounds from SAPO, it may be worth paying a little more and being sure?!

Darryl O Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 The post office has a maximum size limit and the usualbike box falls outside that limit. Maybe just double check that before you waste your time.

I've had 2 bikes sent to me from PE, and sent one to Jhb, and they've all arrived safe 'n sound. Try tracking something on the Post Office website ... sheesh!
