Nickzta Posted September 19, 2011 Share So I'm coming back into cycling. A lot of my mates have had bad accidents with cars and I gave the sport a break, for a long while. I've finally caved in and I bought a great 2nd hand road bike this weekend, but it has flat pedals. I'm thinking of putting Mtn bike pedals onto it. My thinking: 1 set of cycling shoes for spinning & cycling. I want to do the bulk of my "base' work in the gym. I guess the question is: Am I being doff about this? How strong is the grip in a Mountain bike pedal. If I pick up a big power stroke kicking towards the line in a race, could I pull the cleat out of the pedal?
